My nephew crashed my Bonanza in the New Zealand wilderness

Nephew was helping me with some yard work this weekend, and once we got done I wanted to show him the sim. I loaded up the Bonanza and LittleNavMap, fired her up, and took off from Gisborne (NZGS), headng north.

I handled the climb out to 5,000 ft. engaged HDG and ALT, and showed him around the cockpit and beautiful external views.

Then I disengaged the AP, and let him ‘take the wheel’ so to speak.
He flew around for a while, then dove down into a valley like he was flying an F-16 on a strafing run.
Needless to say, he hit 220 kts. very quickly, then said, “I’m going to land over there” - pointing to a small patch of reasonable flat dirt next to a river. I just laughed, knowing I couldn’t lower the gear or flaps.

He gave it the old college try, but of course got the fatal message: “You have collided with an object, and caused irreversible damage to the aircraft.”

He thought the sim was really cool, and ‘got’ the reasons I’m enjoying it so much.

Unfortunately, not the first time, even with real planes:

I remember reading about that one, and seeing the dramatization on ‘Air Disasters.’
So messed up.
