My sim wont go over 38-40 on any settings

Hello all week been dealing with this issue, my pc is decent and regardless of any settings I cannot get nothing above 35-40 frames, I changed the in sim settings from low, medium, high and ultra and no changes, even at default airports, simple airport like MDSD in the Caribbean and same thing, any ideas what I can do? Also played with the nvidia control panel and no improvements, see my settings below, please any help will be appreciated

Aurora R13
12TH GEN INTEL CORE i9 12900KF 3.2-5.2GHZ TURBO BOOST MAX 3.0
64GB DUAL CHANNEL DDR5 AT 4400MHz
2 – 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD’s
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti 12GB
Windows 11 Home Edition

Just a few questions to get some more background:

  • Were you getting more fps prior to this week? How much more? What airplane were you using?
  • Are they fluid or with stutters?
  • What about changes in fps from large, complex airports to just flying at altitude over the ocean or simple terrain?
  • What do your fps look like with stock aircraft like a Cessna 152?

Ive done the new a300, the c208 also but with the c208 i get maybe 5 more fps, around and above water and flying over small islands same thing

No stutters just low fps and i feel the sim like heavy specially when i pan around

Has your Windows been already updated to version 23H2 (released some days ago)? That´s reported widely to produce lower performance and a ton of hiching and freezes in games. Microsoft already provided an official reply to some users and some manual changes need to be performed by user:

What resolution are you using? Have perhaps set vSync on in the game? You might try running Alienware’s SupportAssist to see if it turns up any issues with the hardware.

The highest monitor resolution, i have a 34 inches 3440x1440 monitor

Vsync off in the sim

The first thing you need to do is turn on developer mode, then go into the debug menu at the top and turn on the fps display. That will show not only the fps, but also if you are main thread limited (CPU) or GPU limited. Whichever one is limited will determine where to go next in diagnosing/fixing this.

Then again, it’s an Alienware. I suggest you give this video a watch, along with a couple others GN did on the R13. I’m wouldn’t be surprised you are suffering from poor cooling.

There’s something called Frame Generation mod it supposedly increases FPS. There’s videos on YouTube. Maybe give that a try?

I did and didnt worked out for me, got the sim all crazy

Definite CPU bottleneck. Given the video I posted above, what are your CPU temps under MSFS load? Use something like HW Monitor to find out.

Anything i can do to solve that?

Get the fastest CPU available and use Liquid nitrogen cooling. This works very well and you can overclock dramatically. This should up your FPS for sure. Just put down some plastic becuse I get lots of condensation on the floor.

Increase graphic settings so it will load your GPU, then unload your CPU and let it breath. I have lower specs and I can reach 60 to 90fps in most airplanes planes.
That’s my recomendations:

Thanks let me try those

I have an identical system to the OP, run 5120x1440, and all settings on ULTRA. I drop it down to HIGH sometimes if I’m going to be flying near a big city. I normally get 50 to 70 fps over the countryside. I don’t mess with individual settings and normally run with the frames locked at 40fps.

GN seems to have a “thing” about Alienware and thoug he makes some good points, that video is a little over the top IMHO.

That said, it wouldn’t hurt to download GPU-Z. From there you can monitor all the critical temps and locate any cooling problem you might be having.

This follow-up video shows where they tried to replace the CPU cooler with a larger AIO, but it’s not a straightforward process and not a catch all.

Undervolting can help as well, but also not a silver bullet. If this is temp related (assuming here since you didn’t confirm it’s a temp issues in your specific system), then about the only truly effective thing to do would be sell it if you can and buy something DIY or at least from a better system builder using a proper case. Due to the proprietary parts, you can’t scavenge much from this system and slap into a better case, and there isn’t really a market for what amounts to an Alienware shell without a CPU and GPU.

Changed the settings same thing. I will really even pay to fix this issue ;(

Same thing with the settings but thanks
