Wow, your wife watching you fly, now that’s something special. You certainly have yourself a gem there.
Even though my wife will not enjoy watching me fly for more than a few minutes, she does support me with my passion. She was the one who came up with the perfect location in the house when I expressed wanting to more my flight sim setup from the desk to a more “enclosed” experienced.
I have been wanting a more permanent chair situation in the cockpit (instead of moving my work desk chair from the cockpit to the work desk every week), and have been looking for a cockpit seat.
Considering the ones I found were either outside my budget, or the shipping was way too expensive. My wife found a 2nd hand racing seat online. We almost bought it, but my wife noticed it wasn’t quite what I imagined, so we bailed out, and I would keep searching. (I even considered a car seat)
Then 2 months ago my wife found an actual co-pilot seat for sale in my home town. I was sold as soon as I saw the picture and it’s price. That same weekend we went to look at it, and ended up buying the seat.
My wife kept asking me: “and you are sure you can make it work”.
And I kept ensuring her that I would be able to make the modifications to make it work.
My wife helped with re-doing the seat cushens.
And just a week ago, I finished with the modifications, and installed the seat in the cockpit where it moves back and forth, as well as up and down.
When she saw the seat in the cockpit the smile on her face said it all.
It shows how important spouse support is (and YES, that works both ways!!)
I am happy for anyone who experiences the support of their spouse/partner with whatever gives them joy.
