I did a youtube streaming of a tour of part of the Navajo reservation. Leaving Page arizona on the border, flying to Navajo Mountain where we lived and our friends are.
Then to Shonto (the closet main town on the reservation to Navajo mountain to get supplies and is 45 minutes away).
I showed key landmarks and the stories behind them.
NAvajo mountain is correct in detail but the one larger school building is actually two parts.
The houses to right of school are teacher housing. The second on first row is Tod Small canyons, our friend. We will probably return to the reservation in a year or so. I plan to do an Animal science program there.
I then flew to Shonto then Tuba CIty, I will do another Youtube live tour tomorrow.
My recommendations if you fly over the reservation.
Fly from Page arizona, not the flagstaff or southern ones. but zoom on map to corner of reservation to page arizona. When you fly out turn east, you will see NAvajo Mountain in the distance. Keep in mind you are flying over a massive giant mesa with more mountain around you, mesas on mesa.
When you leave Navajo mountain. go south. You will see wonderful canyons and drops. Follow one main road between the other mesa will lead to four farms then Chinlle (by the way if you drive through the reservation, stop in Chinle at a motel restaurant that serves the biggest most delicious belly stuffing Navajo Tacaos you will ever have.)
Or go south then west to Shonto airport as a marker) Shonto is the closest main town to Navajo mountain. 45 mins by car.
Then south west to Tuba City
South from there is towards the Hopi section of the reservation.
Then track North East towards the other side into NM and Pueblo areas in NM.
USE small crafts liek the bubble topped one. That will allow you to enjoy the scenery. Land that is truly home to me.
