According to Sebastian Wloch, it will take a few weeks for the navdata to be in the sim after each new cycle (testing purposes). They are planning to start rolling data updates by the end of October. Realistically speaking, it will probably be in the November update… at least for now, in the best case scenario, it will take 2 weeks after a new cycle for the data to be implemented in MSFS.
Charts+ will take more work. It will be in a future sim update (not the November one) and they didn’t mention if it’s behind a paywall or not.
You’re welcome and I agree with you. If they manage to include global charts at no extra cost, then we’re talking. But I’m skeptical here, charts can be very expensive.
Still, I will keep my Navigraph subscription. The Jeppesen chart database is by far the largest one, you also have the integration for apps that cannot access the internal MSFS navdata, and a charts API to devs who want to display Navigraph charts inside the simulator in virtual EFBs. There’s also no delay, the cycles are pushed as soon as they are available, every 28 days. For me it’s worth every penny.
From what I understand, Chart+ will be free, that’s why they partnered with Navblue in the first place. I know charts can be expensive but so are high quality airports. And yet Microsoft is paying 3rd parties like Gaya to create them and give them us for free.
I don’t think people realize that.
If they have some cooperation with other companies in this case of service, I can’t imagine pay for this service. Other thing is implementation inside sim. I’ve told them about Cloud access to Charts solution also but I don’t know about any news but expect logically this. In this time I use still Navigraph and if I want do my future best, will use Navigraph. Hope they will solve NAV data DB quickly as possible.
…sure. but they also never said it was gonna be for free. it’s like saying PMDG will be releasing the 737 for MSFS. i’m guessing charts+ will be for an additional extra.
Given how much licensing this data from NavBlue costs, and the protections NavBlue would require to ensure their data is isn’t used beyond MSFS, I’m surprised it was considered at all.
If anything, we may get lucky and get a one off package, but I wouldn’t count on updates, especially any in sync with real navdata publication dates.
To be completely honest, I’m not that upset. Knowing how much this stuff costs in the real world, and what some 3rd parties are already providing for an absolute fraction of this cost, I’m more than happy with the solutions already available.
It would be good to have those charts but first, in my opinion, it will be very important to have better FMS data available in the simulator. The navdata available today have a lot of problems and also it is not updated in the Airac cycle date.
Asobo and Working Title have started that effort by SU4 - the FAA Data added to NavBlue now mostly completes US approaches and procedures. Over time, we’ll likely see EURControl and other regional agency data included to improve global coverage.
Hi all,
Any news ?
Am now digging further on IFR flights and look for the right data.
From what I understand the nav data sources of the sim is never updated except with official SU or WU releases.
Then only a soft like LittleNavMap could have the right sim data because he “pumps” them all from the local installation. Am I right ?
But this soft does not provide any chart as SID and STAR…
Many seems to be using Navigraph, but is there a direct link with data on the sim ? If not it cannot be reliable.
Lighten me please
Thanks
Vianney
I feel like the team doesn’t even care about it at this point. Releasing Air racing even before a feature that was announced months ago says everything about this company
Sim data and Navigraph data is mostly the same. Some procedures might be named slightly differently (in the FMS) and Navigraph charts, but that also happenes in the real world.
With navigraph you can also replace the built in (Nav blue) database with the navigraph/Jeppesen one. The main difference is it’s updated more frequently.
