Or if there is a windsock then that should be OK to use.
Unfortunately winds don’t affect the environment naturally so without a windsock or weather report it there isn’t a great way. One other way I do it though is to compare my ground-speed with my IAS. If ground speed is higher then I have a tail wind, it works OK but it isn’t optimal.
