Navigraph Charts 8.0 is Out!

Incredibly harsh words imo

MSFS just uses the standard V8 browser, restricted for security reasons. Asobo didn’t write it and it’s not going to change. Navigraph are just using weasily words  to just say they aren’t supporting VR going forward. That’s their call of course, but as a MSFS VR user who liked using Navigraph then I’m allowed to be disappointed I think.

I was really looking forward to v8. They even told me in the beta ‘VR coming soon’, so feel sort of deceived. Using an incompatible tech isn’t an accident, it’s a business decision. C’est la vie I guess :man_shrugging:

Quick question. Is this fully rolled out to everyone at one time or is it server based? I have been trying to open the app (even before knowing there is a version 8) and it says internet connection required although my internet works.

I know I’m flying on the same sim I was yesterday, but this add-on update has really refreshed it for me. It’s kinda like when I get my Audis serviced and they feel faster when I get them back. I know they’re the same cars as they were when they went in, but they just feel…“different.”

Again - if you have feedback for Navigraph, post it directly on their forums. This is not a Voice of the Customer feedback area. That goes for Complaints as well. Please don’t be the reason this thread gets actioned.

You used Navigraph before?

The buttons are still there.
The UI is a BIG step forward.
Just try to look over the horizon

cant´t agree more. The UI is impressive.
A little more complex but shouldnt take long for most users get used
Its amazing being able to zoom aiports, much easier to built a flight plan without the need of any other app

VFR maps maybe hard to get used to. I like the level of detail on US VFR sectional maps, so I may stick to skyvector for the US. I love the fact the VFR maps are global though. It was way too hard to find VFR maps in other countries.

For once, there is NO Chance of me being accused of starting a Technical Support questions in this Forum about Navigraph –

No Need …

Updated this evening, and it runs PERFECTLY.

Thanks to the Navigraph Dev team, and all those that Beta tested it, and got it working so well on release. :+1:

Love the new features. Great app! But as a VR pilot it’s annoying that the ingame panel will not be updated. Because both versions are not compatible the panel will not show the flightplan that has been created in version 8…

I’ve been waiting for this new update 8.0 for months and now I learn about this just today !! I’m heartbroken … I cannot go back to 2D flying, I get bored :frowning:

I agree as a VR pilot no update for the in-game Navigraph panel is a big disappointment.

2D is never going to be an option as VR, GPU, and CPU hardware get better and better.

Tried V8.0 on desktop App with a flight this morning and it is rather nice. I would like to see a way of varying the flight plan coloured path width (maybe there is but options seem sparse) as it’s way too thick compared to the previous version and can obliterate some underlying info. Other than that there is some great fast access to SID/STAR and APPROACH charts. I love being able to overlay for example the contour map along with approach charts, and it’s fantastic to be able to zoom in to airport gate layout chart, definitely a huge plus. All very nice & intuitive.

I don’t use VR, I have just previously preferred for it all to happen in game (via panel) though rather than ALT-TAB’ing out of FS to access it. Maybe I’ll just have to get used to doing the external app thing now.

I only use in game panel.
I’ve been waiting a long time for this update and am truly disappointed no updated in-game panel.
I wish the people at navagraph would tell us if there is no workaround for this no updated in game panel.
I never really figured out how to use the desktop application in msfs, maybe some of u clever ones can figure a way around this.
I mostly do VFR flying
Just got HP Reverb 2 version 2 and I think I really like it and will be using it a lot of the time. It is much more immersive and more like the real flying I used to do. I found a panel for little nav map that does work inside VR and it is really great. It’ll ask some features too.
Not sure I will continue to use navigraph unless some of these things are ironed out.

Sometimes I wonder if people read previous posts in threads or just rant for the sake of it. Scroll up. You’ll see why it couldn’t be updated to match the app. The sim doesn’t support it. Get mad at MS/Asobo.

Folks, seriously - go to the Navigraph forums. So many questions in this thread can and are answered there. Just so you know, I myself posted an immediate bug report there 19h ago and got immediate turnaround and patch release overnight. It works. Complaining here achieves nothing.

If you have issues with the in-sim map not being updated you need to address that with Asobo, who have an extensive contract with another charts company… So, I’m sure they will be keen to listen about the Navigraph issue

Depending on how their roadmap evolves, if they effectively stop supporting VR pilots, I’ll have to reconsider my subscription.

I was incredibly disappointed in the inability for me to use VFR features as I fly exclusively in VR (as do many other pilots here). The fact that they failed to mention this until release seems incompetent at best, intentionally misleading at worst.

The fact that they do not reference this anywhere obvious on their website when mentioning the features, outside of forum posts, is quite telling IMHO.

For now, I’ll use FSKneeboard Pro for my VR VFR panel needs. It has airspace altitude restrictions visible and everything.

The VR community is much smaller than most realize, 10% of MSFS is on VR according to Jorg as of April of this year.
