Navigraph Navdata Update Service BETA started

I also use Simbrief (or learning how to). And of course Navigraph now. Would be nice to have 1 common updated data set to work with, that’s for sure. I just want things to stabilize before I dive in headfirst.

Kind of where I am now. I’ve seen plenty of videos of Navigraph, and embedded charts in use, and I really like the interface.

I use Navigraph all the time now. Got it less than a week ago. And it’s replaced the VFR map in game for me completely. I don’t even care that the map causes CTD because I don’t need it any more. lol

Interesting point, and one I had been thinking about. How much use is Navigraph for someone who mainly flies VFR? I always thought it was a product mainly used for IFR, but perhaps that is me misunderstanding the product entirely. I see on their website a mention of VLOG 2:

This week Magnus and Pontus flew to Frankfurt to meet with Jeppesen, a subsidiary of Boeing, to discuss data availability for the future VFR Charts product.

So there are no VFR charts currently?

No VFR, but you can flip on the world map instead of high / low airways. You see your plane icon flying over a normally labeled map.

Little Nav Map is quite nice like that as well. I checked it out really quick but haven’t played with it much.

I can’t get Navigraph Charts to link at all to MSFS on the PC. On my iPad it links for a little while then disconnects and it can’t find FS again until I restart the computer! Really can’t wait for VFR charts. I’ve been a subscriber for a few years and have been longing for those from day one with Navigraph.

That’s one thing I dislike about Navigraph. There’s a few things I wish it did better, but the lack of any true VFR function is a real let-down to be honest. Yeah, we can set up a flight plan and use the world map as a workaround (better than the in-game VFR map by a LONG shot), but still…

For vfr and navigraph I recommend the littlenavmap mod that injects the map from littlenavmap into a popup in sim. Best of both worlds.

Can someone pls help me? How do I import data from Navigraph into MSFS?

You have to be a subscriber and download the beta installer. You can find it in the Navigraph forums along with the limitations ect.

I am a subscriber. Thx for the info👍

Just export the flight Plan from Navigraph to the flight plan location within flight simulator and open it in the world map

Actually the flightplans from navigraph will only show user waypoints as of right now if imported. I’ve found using littlenavmap or simbrief will load the flightplan a little better when exporting. Now if they’d just fix the sim not loading approaches from saved plans it would be perfect.

All about preference though. Littlenavmap with the map in msfs addon is stellar.

I just signed up for the navdata service, only its a small annual ammount, the equiv of a take away for 3 including drinks.

Works well and the FMS app populates all the apps that use airnav data. A separate app is also downloaded from their forums that installs a plug in and updates MSFS.

I take @AZRedneck33 point, imported flight plans get stripped of their approach data and some airports force a fly over onto them (any approach into EGPF and the GOW beacon). I’m loading up littlenavmap tomorrow for a tinker.

I checked prev airports where there was no data, like KTEX etc and they are fully populated now.

This is the FMS, really nice tool. Very happy experience.

What’s wrong with the Navblue data that MS is using in the sim?

The actual AIRAC is not published every month by Navblue in MSFS. Second: Airports and ILS Data are missing e.g.: LGRP (Rhodos, Greece) - ILS Data were missing in Navblue, but are OK in NAVIGRAPH.

Yes, I’m very disappointed in the whole NavBlue data service. We now have received the latest update and still approaches to so many small airports simply don’t exist. This is going to drive everyone to Navigraph for reliable data.

I have nothing against Navigraph, I’m a Navigraph User for FSX, P3d and Xplane 11. I’m just disappointed again when reconciling the promotional videos on services offered by Microsoft’s Flight Simulator, that suggests all nav data support will be handled by the NavBlue partner for the simulator. So many promises falling short - NavData, Weather to name a few.

Yes, that´s true - weather is also good point. Here is an official statement from HiFi Tech (Active Sky) for a possible MSFS implementation of their weather engine:

"MSFS: We have received tremendous support and encouragement from the community to create an Active Sky for MSFS weather engine and we really appreciate all the feedback! While Asobo and MS have done an incredible job with the new weather system, it has clearly stoked the demand and need for Active Sky features for more advanced weather experiences. We’re looking at this as a future potential platform to develop on, but currently, we are not aware of any weather extensibility and we are not sure at this time what the timeline is or what the eventual possibilities will be. We have prepared foundational components for an eventual MSFS Active Sky weather engine, and as soon as we have the capability to interface with MSFS, we certainly will. We are anxiously awaiting more news and updates to the MSFS roadmap along with planned SDK improvements and will provide further updates when we can.

Anyone who would like to see MSFS weather-related SDK functions and potential weather add-ons from any developer, sooner rather than later, should upvote this wishlist item posted on the flight simulator forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/open-up-the-weather-system-to-3rd-party-devs."

If you integrate Navigraph data into MSFS, do the added approaches become available to be assigned by the in-game ATC?

I prefer to build my flight plans with no runway and approach, and have that assigned by ATC during flight (which is more realistic). If the in-game ATC can utilize these added approaches, then that would be great, otherwise, it’s of little value to me.

Yes they do, within the Sim limitations
