Need help with 'A Postcard from Grand Teton' Objectives (Photography Mode)

msfs-2024 One of the bonus objectives is to do this photo in spring time, but then it indicates “Live Time and Weather”. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to get the spring time objective. If it’s live time and weather, it’s fall right now (November). If I adjust the date to, let’s say, March or April, it doesn’t trigger the check mark for the objective. Do I have to wait for real-world spring to arrive before I can get this objective?

Yes. Just tried to do this now. I am guessing it is their unashamedly way to make you continue playing, for at least the near future, if you wish to 100% it. Sadistic, cynical? Well they need to keep the player base somehow after the ‘fall off the cliff’ launch!

Thanks for trying this! I didn’t know if it’s a bug, or if somehow I’m not doing something correctly. - it indicates “live time and weather”, but then it further describes that you can set the time and weather before you start the flight. However, when I do that, it doesn’t trigger the objective. I have the first two stars, but can’t seem to get the third one. Anyway I’m glad I’m not the only one! It’s frustrating :rage:

The problem is still there after Update 1.1.10.0.

There’s a couple of the photo requirements throughout world photographer that pull the live time stunt … its not great; even if you are still playing when the appropriate date comes around, most also require a particular time which seems sketchy for a product with a world wide audience - can’t see folks staying around until 3am there time to hit the magic sun window on the other side of the world

I ran into another one where you’re supposed to find polar bears in a group, and in the description it says polar bears search for mates in the spring time. So I set the date to spring time, but all the polar bears were solo. No groups. I hope they fix this soon!

Still doesn’t work after update 1.2.7.0

You may now complete the mission. It’s officially (calendarical) spring now.
Take your chance, I don’t expect this to be fixed any time soon.

P.S. @ItsJackTime I consider the statement about the polar bears a pure lie, at least concerning the flight simulator. Unless they have implemented it like the German Wikipedia states that the pairing time ist just one week in spring, so you would need to find out when exactly. But from my experience I doubt FS2024 uses any logic remotely that sophisticated. They probably just copied over some text from the web.

It seems that the time may be altered from the Live, not Custom, tab of the environment menu - but the date is what matters. So if it requires an equinox sunrise, you simply need to fly within the first 24 hours after an equinox sunrise in that given location.

Thanks @Zadma, what a valuable tip. And it came just in time for the Angkor Wat mission which I already thought I had missed some hours ago. Thanks to your tip I was just able to complete it … finally.

Yep - from what I can see, these are all the challenges with a live requirement:

  • Sunrise on Mystical Angkor

    • Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere (approximately March 20th and September 22nd each year)
  • Grand Teton National Park

    • Spring in the Northern Hemisphere (approximately March 20th through June 20th each year)
  • Winter Gathering in Château-d’Oex

    • Between January 22nd and January 31st
  • Albuquerque Balloon Fest

    • Between October 1st and October 8th
  • The Long Man of Wilmington

    • Currently bugged; “live time” requirement doesn’t state when it should be taken - will update once fixed

Can someone set up a time to gather for this challenge before 1/31?

Is an online meeting planend for the photographer mission Château D‘Oex?

I’ll be there at 10pm PST tonight and 7am PST tomorrow morning

Today is the last opportunity in 2026 for photographer mission Château d’Oex. I‘m online now.
