Need "Taxi Tutorial"

As a flight sim noob I really do not know how to find the right taxi track. I see the yellow signs but at bigger airports I am still unable to find the right path. Is there a map or sometihngthat can be used?

Ingame Options, assistance, show taxi waypoints will highlight a path when you get ATC taxi clearance.

That’s one way to do it.

Alternatives:

locate where you are on the airport, use airport charts to plot your way and memorize intersections.

Get navigraph (requires payed subscription) which let’s you overlay the airport taxi charts on a moving map connected to the sim

Anyone having problems with the aircraft not moving when trying to taxi out to an active runway? Everything else works well when starting at active runway but not when trying to taxi from gate or parking. Full throttle and aircraft refuses to move.

Parking brake disengaged?

Yes. Not sure what else the problem could be. On all aircraft.

This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure the engines have correctly started?

If you are flying something like the Baron 58 and are using manual Propeller and Mixture controls, the propellers are probably set to feather where the pitch is not enough to move the aircraft. Not sure if this is your issue, just saying. :sunglasses:

Thanks! I will try that.

Taxi guide path, could not have been designed any uglier, and more immersion breaker IMO. A better way might be just marking it on VFR map.

As for alternative suggestion, that might work with handcrafted airports. But most of the remaining airports have their taxiways assigned by AI as far as I know. Taxiway naming for those airports does not match the real life charts. So this might not be a viable alternative most of the time.

I can not find the option. Where is it?

Personally, I found the POI markers for ground navigation to be less useful. I would suggest using the taxi-ribbon. I believe you can find both options in settings under assistance.

Taxi Ribbons is what i meant.

Possibly, not sure about the fuel mixture as opposed to prop pitch but propellers are at high rotation not feather. Thanks for the advice. Have fooled around with the fuel mixture with no results.

Found the issue. The system does not like push back. If you throttle forward at the beginning of your taxi the aircraft moves. If you do push back, the aircraft refuses to move forward when throttle up. If you select shift P (push back) again while throttle up, the aircraft bolts forward. Don’t think this is pilot error but a FS 2020 issue.

Did you click “stop pushback”, then try to throttle up? :sunglasses:

Yes, once you stop push back, the aircraft stops. Then will not move forward at throttle up. Then, at throttle up, hit push back again and it lurches forward.

Strange. I used german language in the game. The seetiing was not there (no translation error, just not existent). Switched to english and there it is. Does anbody know something about that?

I thought same thing. But I learned what area I needed to be and read signs. Also most time you can tell ground services are waiting for you also.
