Needless high Frame Rate during installation/upgrade

This is a complaint which I need to reiterate, yet again.

I’m upgrading. As usual, my slow network will probably need the night or more to do it (if the upgrade does not get stuck).

Again, my GPU starts blowing (and as I mentioned, it will do this the whole night, or more).
This is in my bedroom.

@MICROSOFT / @ASOBO : WHY do you need a 40 frame/s rate during an upgrade ??

I reinstalled X-Plane a few days ago, and while displaying the similar static installation splash screen, the Frame Rate value was a very logical 1 and my PC was quiet as expected.

PLEASE optimize this.

is this seriously a post???

Yes. But I think yours isn’t of any use.

I heard that they use the GPU to decompress the downloaded files (as it’s more efficient) and therefore you’ll see the GPU in use during that time.
Open to be corrected if anyone knows different.

Yes, I have seen that mentioned too although I’m not sure it’s really the case. But if you have a slow network, most of the time the upgrade is doing file copies, and the decompression between copies only takes a tiny fraction of the time.
Even if the GPU is used for decompression, it’s not needed to provided a high frame rate during the file copies, which take many hours…

then limit the framerate outside the game, easy.

:slightly_smiling_face: How ?
