Since they said in the developer Q&A of 28th Oct we should tell them if we don’t like the new night lighting, here we go: I think it’s too even now. It looks very artificial and “robotic”. The light bulbs (besides “hanging” too high in sky) are now distributed very even. This looks really bad, at least in more organic feeling European cities and scenerys.
It might look great in more “square” designed US and Australian cities for example, but in organically grown “old” cities like most in Europe, this looks not believable anymore.
I was a huge fan of the night lighting in MSFS2020 so far. But not anymore. It looks too “perfect” now. Even very very long roads now just have absolutetly perfectly placed lights now… for miles and miles and miles.
Just not plausable.
Please add some more randomness to the lights of streets and cities again. Not completely like it was before 1.10.7.0 I guess… but something in the middle or at least dial it a bit back, make it a bit more random again.
Like Sebastian of Asobo said in the Q&A of Oct. 28th: It might be too much now.
YES, that’s exactly right!
Please make it look a bit more organic again.
Not all the way back to what it was. But at least a bit.
Please vote for this topic if you agree with me. Thank you.
The overall lighting is greatly improved. While I do not expect random lighting along streets and interstates, some variability would be welcome, especially when flying over large cities. The house lights are lined up along a perfect grid within each city block, and every house has a light on. A little more randomness would add to the realism.
Yes, some more randomness again is exactly what I ask for.
I think Sebastian from Asobo kind of feels the same… when you listen to how he says “it might be too much now” in yesterdays Q&A. ^^
Around 34:40 till 35:00 here: Twitch
So yeah, definitelly too regular now, bit more randomness again and we are good
What if we were able to update the colors ourselves, and push them to their database?
What if we could set whether they should shut off after midnight.
Note, not light per light of course, but per street/section.
It seems crazy, but with a scenery gateway this would be awesome.
I haven’t checked it myself, but there should be more lights on the highways/streets in the Benelux vs Germany or France.
And we need to get rid of perfect bright lighting extending on rural roads–they don’t have street lights except at intersections where there are traffic signals and so forth.
Agree there is room for improvement here, though i do not think there should be an element of random as there is nothing random about street and city lights. The pattern needs to be adjusted though to appear more natural.
Strangely, the street lights far away are not obstructed by anything. They just runs from one side to the other without any break & with unusual perfection, and that too the bulbs so fat in size with no sharpness.
