New bug with camera

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Cockpit camera view. When starting a flight in free flight or in career mode whether you are starting on the runway or in the air in career mode the camera view is placing the pilot outside the aircraft

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Intermittently

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Try starting a flight in free flight choose a departure airport and start flight on runway after clicking fly now. This issue is occurring in activities section as career mode. The below photo is what is happening in activities mode and career mode. It will place the pilot outside the aircraft which is the wrong camera placement. I hope this helps and explains what is happening clearly.

Thank you

YOUR SETTINGS

I don’t have any mods in place. or any third party addons I don’t even know how to do that. I am playing msfs 2024 on a high end PC with NVidia graphics GeForce RTX 5060 with windows 11. My pc monitor is 1080 p resolution 240 hz frame rate.

I use the thrustmaster hotas one and the switch on the back of the joystick is set to PC.

In FS2024 (not the case in FS2020), when starting a flight, your pilot is by default placed outside of the aircraft in the walkaround mode.
You need to remove external covers/chucks (if applicable) and then you need to jump into the aircraft using Shift+C (Default binding).
Example ramp 47 at KMCO:

Is it what you are experiencing ?. If so, this is not an issue but the way how FS2024 works.

It is also occurring during career mode when the aircraft is up in the air like attitude pitch lesson or in the activities section when practicing landing the aircraft starts up in the air but the pilot would be outside the aircraft while in the air. It takes a few seconds for the camera to correct itself I’ll start a flight on the runway and usually when it is working right the pilot would be in the cockpit with engines running and ready for take off. I am not sure if this is making any sense here but lately the camera will have the wrong position. By default when starting on the runway with the engines running the pilot should already be inside the aircraft when it is in position for take off.

The OP is saying it happens when you start your flight “in free flight” or in career mode - not at a parking spot. I think the OP means starting in the air - so being outside the cockpit would be awkard indeed.

You can also start a “free flight” C&D at a parking spot but OP mentioned further to be on the runway, so my example does not apply, you’re right  .

Spawning on the runway at KMCO with the C172, cannot replicate:

No issue when starting the landing training:

Same with the altitude (pitch) training:

Since no one is able to replicate the situation I am having with the camera position I decided to go over my control bindings and redo all of them. I reset mouse settings on msfs 2024 to default, I have yet to see if that made any difference. I decided to take a break for today on doing any flight simulator play. Thank you for trying to all who responded. I think that since you were not able to replicate the issue I think that tells me it must be incorrect control bindings

Did a little more research on the camera or pilot disposition issue this is what I got.

Issue Description
In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, there is a known bug that causes the pilot to appear outside the aircraft when starting a flight in mid-air. This issue typically arises when the aircraft is loaded at a non-runway location, such as during specific activities like landings.
Frequency of Occurrence
Consistency: Users have reported that this bug occurs every time they load the aircraft in a non-runway position.

Note this issue was also occurring in career mode for me anyway, however I am still going to redo all control bindings just in case it could still be what is causing the issue for me.

I am not aware of an existing bug report so this statement is weird.

Maybe just try to select the default 2024 Transversal profile (keyboard+controller) and test again.
If it still does not work, hopefully you can provide specific steps to replicate (that the key point for the devs).
Another option is to create a zendesk ticket https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to get direct support from Microsoft team.

Moved to User Support Hub since cannot replicate at this point.
