New 'DLSS 4' (v310.1) is amazing in VR

My wallpaper turned black after the last windows update…You think it could be the same issue?

I would really love to know how you are all getting 2024 to work. I have tried literally everything….

DLSS4 - yup
Latest nvidia drivers - yup
Graphics settings lower than my 2020 settings - yup
No extra programs running in the background - yup

4090 rtx water cooled - yup
64GB DDR5 ram - yup
Pimax crystal - yup
I9 cpu - yup

2020 runs like glass, smooth and enjoyable.

2024 runs like MS3.0 on a Commodore 64.

The frame rate starts off no too bad, certainly less than 2020 and as soon as I take off it tanks to less than 5FPS and stays that was until on the ground again.

So what am I doing wrong???

Are you using the dev mode fps counter? For me there is a bug with a Pimax Crystal where after a while the CPU render thread times blows out and frame rates tank as a result. Works fine when I go back to 2D. If I disable the dev mode counter the problem stops and I get back to 45-50fps in VR with FS2024, DLSS 4 Performance mode. 4090, 5800x3D

Nope not using that, nvidia counter.

OK, so that’s not it. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the sim? Same goes for Pimax Play.

Nah, I’ll wait until SU1 drops…. 2020 is working perfect for me right now, so no need to waste time farting around in 2024….

I was having the same with my Q3 4080S setup. This was happening with the latest NV driver 572.xx. I had to rollback to 566.xx and now 2024 is working fine. (DLSS4 via Swapper and prof. K via Inspector).

I recently found that the Resizable Bar ‘tweak’ that I’d picked up from some YouTube video at some point for MSFS2020 and had carried over to 2024 killed my frame rates, I just leave the Nvidia driver settings as standard now, apart from setting texture LOD to Clamp and fiddling with the DLSS presets. I have a problem with steam gauges in the BS Dukes and some text on cockpit textures (i.e. JF Avro RJ). They are very blurry compared to the rest. It seems like they are not upscaled like the rest of the picture. The PMS 50 GTN 750 map is also blurry. Using Pimax Chrystal light with native resolution of the headset and DLSS 4 with preset K set to a factor of 0.45 in the DLSS Tweaks. FPS is fine. DLSS Hud is showing it is using the right DLSS Version 3.10.2.1 and preset K. Anyone else experiencing this?

Made a screenshot in 2D mode to show the problem. You can see it in the Airspeed Indicator. All the numbers are blurry. Engine Oil Indicator is a good example too.

Not remaining on MSFS 2020?

That’s in fact nothing more the low resolution graphics.

Im using my own custom ratio. it’s closer to balanced than to ultra perfomance with a ratio of 0.45. The balanced preset value is 0.5. Ultra performance is usually 0.33.

Didn’t had those problems with DLSS 3. As you can see, other text is scaling normally. No Problem with the text in the EFB or on the yoke.

It seems like the gauges aren’t upscaling like the rest. So they are rendered in the lower resolution set by the DLSS preset but not upscaled again.

Performance gain by DLSS scaling is losing sharpness that can only be minimized by lowering the amount of it. TAA and after that DLAA are the sharpest the rest is adding more and more blurriness.

Can someone refresh my memory from the dev livestream - was there any mention of fixing the core issue with DLSS and glass displays / fast moving numbers, in general? (using code or some sort of mask or whatever the technical term is for not using DLSS for certain portions of the display)…

I’m rewatching the stream, but it is looooooong.

Don’t think you need the swapper if you are using the latest driver. I’m showing DLSS version k.

if you find the nvidia profile manager, enable profile f. i find it works great for glass cockpits. I dunno if that defeats the purpose of dlss4 etc but it works well and is better perf for me. 7800x3d, 64ram, 3060ti

Here is a comparison with the same settings in MSFS 2020 with DLSS 3.8

and MSFS 2024 with DLSS 3.10.2.1

I treid to roll back DLSS in MSFS 2024 with DLSS Swapper and with the Repair function in the xbox app. The rollback worked, but the problem persisted.

I removed the shader caches, but it didn’t helped. is anyone here, who has the duke and is willingly to test if they hace the same problem in MSFS 2024. 4K Monitor, DLSS to Ultra Performance to make it obvious. This would help me a lot to see if there is a specific problem to my setup. Otherwise there is a systemic problem and I can write a bug report.

Dude. It’s getting annoying. In both pictures it is set to ultra perfomance.

In 2024 there seems to be some sort of tesselation on the gauges, that isn’t there in 2020 with the same DLSS settings. Again. Both set to ultra performance.

Let me state it as clearly as possible: In both pictures DLSS is set to ultra perfomace. Both pictures. ultra perfomance.

After 3 days of agony I found the culprit.

negative LOD Bias in the programm settings in the NVIDIA Controlpanel was set to clamp. Reverting this to it’s standard setting (allow) fixed it.
