Sorry guys, I’m a bit confusing after what I watch and what I read around the web, after the xbox showcase event of today. This actual game ( MSFS ) isn’t still ready!!! , a lots of bug and crash, beta updates still in bildings and under workings, a lot of future updates in program and add-on in the game shop every week, all of this until the development program calendar and I think more and more months after, until the end of the year…
Also the add-on support is a new thing since only 1-2 months ago for xbox players, it means that if pc players could play with new add-on and feature since the game come out, xbox players instead just 2 months ago could.
Lots lots lots of money spent for buy planes, airports, and more stuff … all of this for watch the trailer of the brand new game in 2024 … just next year … really I didn’t understand … please Asobo and Microsoft just make that FS2024 will be a big big update for MSFS and fix this beautiful and magic game forever … it can be just perfect like this, doesn’t has sense a brand new game after all the money spent in the shop for buying stuff.
Looks like, you are supporting and fixing MSFS for make just next year a brand new game, and what about MSFS ?? all the works and updates for what?? This Sim still need support and improvements not quit. I think that lots of players will quit instead…
Nobody knows the answer to any of this – this whole thing should go in textbooks as examples of botched PR during product announcements.
Yep, knowing the current state of the AAA industry it’s going to be a whole “new” game that everyone has to purchase again. When it’s clearly just a “careers update”
I’ve been done with MSFS for a long time. But if they try to make people buy a new sim this soon. It’s going on my blacklist.
What happened to the 10year project of MSFS?
Did someone talk to Gaigin to learn about milking you customer base for money?
They never said it would be the same version for 10 years. Show me any software that’s stayed the same for 10 years and you’ll see a user base complaining it hasn’t been kept up to date.
Hope this will be an upgrade because I have this game on Steam, and I already have over 5000 euros worth of addons in it.
and then a whole bunch that’s on my wish list.
bought on marketplace in game
Would be really bummed if they all become unusable.
Because I and many had expected that this will last 10 years as a basic flight simulator
Because of those thoughts I bought a lot because I assumed it would last 10 years
So I hope that there will be clarity soon about what will happen with it.
or that MSFS 2024 will be a completely new game or just like that upgrade pack as we once had in FS X …
well I can already name quite a few games that have been running for 10 years without hardware things having changed …
Just look at Titan quest, the game.
Still running on the same engine as of 2006
Euro truck sim 2 (with adjustments but the base is still from 2012
Prepar3D 2009 ( is an updated version of FS X ( 2006 )
Still running.
So why would it be crazy that they don’t use it for 10 years.
In 3 to 4 years the hardware may be such that everyone can fully enjoy it
Because the systems that are now used for MSFS in ULTRA will then be the basis.
well I can already name quite a few games that have been running for 10 years without anything changing at the base …
And I’m just going to search that I come across many more that have been running for more than 10 years
Their ctrl, C, and V keys must have finger grease all over. Idk why developers think its okay to copy and paste their old game, add 10 minutes worth of content, and then charge full price for it. If it’s the same engines, why not just update the previous game.
I looked at the video multiple times and now the screens on the official MSFS page show yes, the same engine with advanced improvements.
This is what happened from FS2004 to FSX or FS2002 to FS2004 etc.
This requires usually a new installation of the game to set the whole new engine components and architecture as far as I know…
I see for example the trees being now highly detailed trees while retaining the density aspect. The atmospheric lighting seems better, seasons etc.
You can’t move to another engine every 4 years and the same engine for 10 years need to have a tech update requiring a whole new instance of the game reinstalled.
Based on the trailer, the 2024 engine is again most ground breaking flight simulation world engine out there and nothing competes with it right now.
Well, no offense to Asobo/MS (and I just read the new FAQ). But I feel like you guys could barely maintain one flight sim, now you are going to keep up with two?? This confuses and worries me. And don’t get me wrong 2024 looks amazing.
Why wouldn’t you just say something like ‘2024 will have all the functionality and support of 2020 but with all the new features and all of your addons will work with some possibly needing some modifications’.
The fact that you don’t say that leaves me quite worried. Will complex aircraft like the Fenix and PMDG have a place in this new sim? Has AI been fixed to a realistic level for 2024? What about weather radar? Do these things even have a place in 2024 or is it just a mission oriented game as opposed to an open world simulator?
Why do these things concern me or make me worried? Like many serious flight simmers I have spent thousands of dollars over the years in hardware, addons ect, and obviously the prospect of having to change to a new platform every few years is daunting. I hope this isn’t going to turn into the same thing as Farm Sim or the Train sims where there is a new game every 1-2 years. I have played both and stopped because of that, not so much because of the financial investment but it always takes several months for the addon developers (who always make the game better) to catch up to the new version, and by the time they do its usually time for the new version.
I look forward to seeing what new information comes out in the coming months. You guys sure know how to stir the pot!! haha
It is written:
Add-ons purchased through the in-simulator Marketplace do not need to be purchased again in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
What about the steam users who bought addons on Market, can they also take it to the new MSFS 2024?
Because I really bought a lot of addons via Steam / marketplace ( ingame store)
Hope I can take them to the new MSFS2024
Will this transfer through your microsoft account?
So with your Xbox account.
Because until now it is separate from the xbox / mircosoft store
Has that been thought about, because it was officially bought in MP.
Whether it’s with MS points or steam points shouldn’t matter.
But I would like to take them.
Because I have add-ons worth thousands of euros in the store
Why not just a paid upgrade for MSFS 2020 users (with a fresh install) (especially for steam users) because they will then keep their MP purchased things.
Then it does not even have to differ in price with an upgrade or full arrival.
But that the steam users just see their sim as MSFS 2024 after an update and keep their Addons.
It happens on Steam more that old games disappear and are replaced by new versions
And for the new users just the whole game?
Then the steam users can also just take their Addons with them.
That would be a nice solution.
My guess is that this new sim will just be an additional tier on top of MSFS 2020 repackaged as MSFS 2024. So underneath will be the good ole’ sim as we currently know it with additional new features that we will have to pay for either through monthly Game Pass charges or an upgrade charge for non-Game Pass users.
For those that don’t want to upgrade will probably not be a problem and they will still get the updates/bug fixes as before. Think MSFS 2020 std edition users today that never paid for the premium deluxe content but still get all the regular updates except for the premium deluxe content.
More than likely they are just trying to bring more people into the fold (and make more $$). This is something I would expect a company like MS to do to refresh the product and expand its appeal and user base.
Exciting times!!
I would not be surprised if the outstanding requests in the wishlists and bug reports are so overwhelming that Asobo collectively concluded it was best to can the whole engine and start a new one from scratch.
In that case, might as well add a whole bunch of content with those bug fixes and slap a price-tag on it.
You just bought them on the ingame marketplace via the Steam wallet as a payment system.
You now own them on the ingame marketplace which is linked to your MS account signon.
What happens to all the world updates? do they just get ported over to MSFS2024?
It’s likely they will just be part of the core content for it, but upgraded with whatever new features they are implementing.
yes, but if I were to install the game with my Microsoft account on an Xbox, I wouldn’t have my Market stuff anyway.
That’s how it was in the beginning
Only people who bought it on PC via Micrrosft store could take their addons to the xbox and vice versa (I thought)
So hence the doubts.
