Has anyone experienced a download loop following the new update?
MSFS frustratingly deleted itself which I have never had before
I am since trying to reinstall and it’s just downloading up to around 2gb then jumping to a few hundred MB again.
More likely the installer didn’t pick up on your original installation folder, in the usercfg.opt file, you never noticed, and proceeded to install a second copy of the sim. If you search I’d be willing to bet you’ll now have two copies installed, one effectively orphaned.
In more than 4 years I’ve never seen that once, and yet it does keep getting reported. It’s very odd.
Not sure why, but an in place upgrade for windows resolved the issues. For some reason I couldn’t access windows security. Did the upgrade and turned off anti virus as advised in the link above and the sim installed within the hour
Not sure what’s gone on with the sim being deleted but I’m happy to say it’s resolved.
Computers, eh.
To add datapoints, I think I’ve had it around 3-4 times in the timespan of 4+ years. But each time it was an easy-enough fix, because showing a 160+ GB update does ring all alarm bells
