Personally, I’m less concerned with how the METARs themselves are generated and more concerned with the accurate depiction of weather.
I’m completely okay with METARs being handled just like in the real world. They’re nothing more than a snapshot and should be used as a guide, one weather tool out of many.
If they can get the weather in the sim to be a reasonable depiction of what’s going on irl, the METARs shouldn’t be that far off anyway.
