I couldn’t see any other newbie threads, so here is one. I last played the MSFS Windows 95 version! so it’s been a while (and I haven’t owned a PC in 15 years).
I have a T.Flight HOTAS One (still in its box) and I’m looking forward to this, but I’m not really sure what I’m letting myself in for, or whether the game will be mostly played by MSFS veterans, even on Xbox.
So hello other newbies (if any) and veterans, I hope this will be fun.
Looking forward to meeting the Xbox pilots soon in the air !
Two tipps for new Xbox players which you can use :
MSFS gets all Live weather data from www.meteoblue.com . Meteoblue also has a free phone app for iOS and Android. Good to check the MSFS Live Weather at your destination airport.
www.fsxmap.com is a good site for phone or tablet as well, can show you info about all MSFS airports. Can come in handy when you are flying and want to see info about an airport you want to go to on your phone or tablet.
I see to recall from a trailer I saw that MSFS has some sort of tutorial process that helps me through.
I suspect there are going to be many people, particularly with MSFS on Game Pass that are going to be colliding with this experience in a particularly unstructured way.
As a bit of a gaming ‘completionist’, I intend to learn how to do this ‘properly’, though I expect to be using all the ‘assists’ the game can throw at me, while I learn the basics.
You can do tutorials or you can also just take an easy plane like Icon A5 or Cessna 152 and start in the air anywhere and try to keep flying…like learning to ride a bike
Whatever suits you.
I’ve been watching loads of vids on YouTube, hoping I’m somewhat informed for at least the basics by launch. My big interest is the a320 and being able to perform flights, landings etc
IRL private pilot excited to return to MSFS on Xbox. Never had the PC system that could handle the demands of MSFS since release last August. Since 6/13 time has been literally dragging (as time is relative) as we approach the release date. So excited that the opportunity exists to use the program for practice again. Looking forward to getting back into the virtual skies!
Sofa, feel free to reach out, Xbox gamertag is PrincipalJay
@PrincipalJay Ha, Well you certainly will know what you are doing! Yes, I am certainly looking forward to it (and I shall ping your tag, - as any Xbox player is welcome to tag mine (SofaJockey) thank you).
I think you can literally spend a lifetime in the sim and never land at every airport or see everything there is to see. Might get dicey for a completionist.
I haven’t played MSFS since 04!! Not able to make the outlay for a big PC so the Xbox was the ideal purchase!! Looking forward to getting into it!!
One thing that has confused me though, if you want to preorder on the Xbox store it says the game is only available from 16.00 (British Summer Time) on the 27th?? Is the game not going to be available from midnight??
I saw that. Perhaps it’s a global launch in the morning UK Pacific Time, which would put it later in the day UK. It might also be useful for a game that is so ‘internet connected’ to have developer support available ‘in the office’ (assuming the office is US-based) at launch time.
