New Nvidia Driver 461.72 2/25/21

New Nvidia Drivers just popped up. Post your experiences below. Apparently HAGS performance has been improved in some games.

As already posted elsewhere, no good for me, got a sad feeling they will never get back to Pre-461 performance levels as they’ve slowly been getting worse since 451.

WMR with OpenXR through SteamVR

Nice comparison. What a joke, aren’t new drivers supposed to improve things? Sad

This is usually a discouraged configuration. Which is too bad, since the overlay tools are useful. I’m worried that people are looking at this graph and assuming these are direct OpenXR numbers, which is the configuration used by most WMR users.

They already bash the new Release like crazy

I have unistalled 461.72 and I’m back to 461.40. FPS in London for example had a clear decrease and a poor performance with new driver. Back to previous one and performance is the same again. My PC config is a I9 10900K 32GB RAM with RTX3080 (Asus).

Absolutely horrible driver. I can’t even get VR operational beyond sound. Control tab makes the headset and computer lock up. I’ve tried disabling the Nvidia USB driver in device manager, set everything to default, no overclocking, nothing fixes it. Don’t waste your time with this driver.

Hardware:

Omen 15
10700
16gb 2933 MHz ram
RTX2060
1TB SSD

Oculus Quest.

No problems here, I9 9900K, 2070 Super

same here. 39-40 fps over south-west africa in a TBM at 10000 feet, with old 457.30 i had about 38-39.
RTX 3090, SteamVR latest beta and Pimax 8KX

I can’t help it if people don’t read the text and incorrectly view the graph, that’s their issue.

Fact is the 451 & 457 drivers are perfectly fine with this combination, everything since with 461 has been worse with barely any signs of improvement which is the main concern here.

No problems here. Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3070, Hardware accelerated graphics scheduling in Windows turned ON, motion reprojection in OpenXR turned off, no custom render scale, in game SS to 100%. Runs smooth in VR, even London City is ok.

Mine feels fine. i9-9900K and RTX 2080 Ti.
Just did a full livestream, and the data was good. No stutters, and smooth 30 fps on everything Ultra with a few things set to High at 4K.

How is the Pimax?

Hey @DonricM!
Would you mind sharing what PiTool and SS settings you can play at on the 8KX with a 3090 to get 38-39 FPS? I have an 8KX and a 2080 Ti, and I have to set the FOV to Small and the SS to 30-40% (TA100) in order to get decent FPS with graphics at High/Medium. Just wondering where this sits…
Cheers!

off-topic, but
@ SpatialWaif: i am very pleased. the main reason i prefer the 8KX over the G2 meanwhile are the lenses. because of my small IPD i have never been able to find the perfect sweetspot with the G2. The Pimax gives me clarity all aver the cockpit. And even in small FOV you have around 120° wich is way more than the G2 has with the printed custom Gasket.
@fribnibble: i am using PP ON, Small FOV, 1.75 PiTool, 22 SteamSS, 100 Renderscale ingame. settings mostly High
Cheers

Thank you @DonricM !
Actually I was most curious about your contrast, brightness, and backlight adjustments if you don’t mind. The rest sounds similar!
Ty!

NB: I’m cross posting this because there are presently 2 discussions about NVidia drivers, one more general and this one specific to VR:

I don’t know what it’s worth, but looking around the net this morning I’ve found this interesting information from another simmer about 457.30 vs 461.72 and GEF in the mix:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/436584/nvidia-drivers-performing-measurably-worse-than-re/?topicPage=1

This further confirms my recommendations to not install GeForce Experience, but YMMV.

I never have Experimental Features checked.

Looks like nvidia make no secret about the issues
