New PC

Hi all, so I currently have MSFS 2020 installed in my current computer with some payware sceneries, navi-graph subscription. I am currently looking to get a better pc for the sim. Now my question is, am I able to transfer all the pay-ware sceneries and the navi-graph subscription after I install the sim onto the new PC?

I think so man

You should be fine. Not sure how 3rd party payware stuff outside of the Marketplace works if you have any of that. You could likely just copy the Community folder from your old PC and bring it over to the new and that would solve the vast majority.

Marketplace purchases are stored in your in-game account. Once you install the game on your new machine, you just have to go to the content manager and re-download.

Navigraph requires you to log in with your name and password. Doesn’t matter what computer you’re on. As long as you’ve got online connectivity, you can get it to work.

Most of the sceneries are purchased through the marketplace inside the sim, so I never received a download link by email. I did for in fact purchased 2 sceneries off the 3rd party website where I did get a link to download my scenery with a 30 day limit. I’m just concerned about the ones I bought through the sim marketplace. Hopefully I can re-download them through the content manager.

Edit: Can I re-download the same simulator to another PC? Or do I need to purchase it again?

You can download it on another computer. You’ll have to log in with the same MS account you’re currently logged in with on your new machine. The stuff you bought from the marketplace will be in your content manager. You’ll have to re-download it, but it will be there.

Just FYI - make backup copies of the 3rd party stuff you buy. Because if you lose it, you won’t be able to download it past that 30 day download window. And preferably, back it up somewhere that’s not on your same computer in case you lose a drive or something.

Thank you for the fast response. I was curious to know if I would lose everything I’ve bought off the sim marketplace, buying it off the 3rd party website it’s a whole different thing because they give you a time limit.

Exactly. Back up the 3rd party stuff and you’ll have it forever. That’s your responsibility. For in game, as long as you log in with your own account, you’ll have access to everything you bought in the marketplace.

Do you mean back up the scenery files installed in the community folder?

I’d be backing up the original files you downloaded from these 3rd party vendors as a safety backup. But really, if they go in the Community folder, you should be able to just copy the contents of the folder to a USB stick and drop it into the Community folder on the new PC and have everything work.

I saw the files inside the community folder, it created different folders inside the program file folder just for the future if I ever purchase something else it’ll go in there as well.

I am currently looking to get a better pc for the sim

Think about the new Ryzen 5900x, I have already pre-ordered it. Available early November with my current motherboard, MSI MEG 570 Unify.
Only the bios needs to be updated.

Nice! Do you think 2tb of memory is enough for the sim?

Yes of course. I have only 1tb dedicated for MSFS and I think is enough.

Please post the specs of the new PC so we can pick it apart and tell you all the mistakes you’re making in buying those components. We will then provide a multitude of “correct” components in the form of a heated debate over brands and models. /sarcasm :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hahah I see it all over the forum !
