New Real World Scenery's KSTL (Any Thoughts?)

Does anyone have any prior experience with Real World Scenery? Saw their newly released KSTL on SimMarket and am intrigued as I would desperately like to get larger North American airports. It looks pretty good but there are also some signs of corner cutting on some parking lot textures, etc, plus I am not certain, but am under the belief that Taxi2Gate will be bringing their KSTL at some point so I could wait if it will be better.

Anyone got thoughts, especially if you have this airport already?? Thanks! :grinning:

I just purchased this. It’s a special airport for me. My son flies there a lot for his flight training.

The detail is REALLY good, the airport is spread out and there are so many buildings that have been created.

My one complaint, and I emailed the dev on this, is that the install size of KSTL is 10.9Gb, which, for me, is the largest addon I have. And there’s no CGL, which means it’s all textures.

When loading into a flight, my system goes up to 40Gb of RAM utilization (no other apps running). I load in just fine, but am getting stutters. My system: i7 8-core, 2080S maxq, 32Gb RAM, 1TB NVMe. Note that I’ve tuned my settings to be stutter-free, so there’s definitely something this addon is doing more than other airport addons do.

After takeoff and above 1000 ft AGL or so, everything is fine.

For me, it’s still a buy, bc of the special place in my heart for the airport and the amazing level of detail, but for those with limited system RAM, you might want to wait for more reviews or hope for further optimizations.

Thanks for your feedback. I generally only have issues around the larger Asobo airports (EGLL, KLAX, EDDF, etc) but 3rd party ones work well. This sounds like a hog! I’ll wait a bit for others to chime in but glad to hear it looks good. Maybe they’ll tune it a bit with more feedback. :+1:t3:

Ok, I just landed there. First of all, no stuttering for me. Flew in with the Aerosoft CRJ, i7-800k, 32GB RAM, NVDIA 1080ti, graphics on Ultra, 2560x1440 resolution. AI traffic off (as that causes stuttering with the CRJ).

I would put this in the same category quality-wise as Final Approach Simulations KEWR. There is lots of detailed external modelling, but there is no internal modelling of the terminals and the texturing isn’t great. It is using default jetways. Texturing in general is far too low quality for an airport at this price-point, and like KEWR, I find the night textures very unconvincing. The black PBR textures for the windows are reasonable, but not for the entire terminal at this price point. Is it worth it? Well it unquestionably adds to the immersion (as the default KSTL is SO bad), but for a major airport implementation, it just doesn’t match the quality level of FlightBeam, FsDreamteam, or LatinVFR (let alone Aerosoft or Drzewiecki Designs). Like KEWR, I would rather have a higher quality implementation and I feel that KSTL is overpriced. For me it is enough of an improvement that I’m glad I have it over the default. It isn’t horrible, but it isn’t great. Undoubtedly, I’d replace it at the first chance if something better comes along.

I know this is old, I just bought the FeelThere KSTL to replace the Real World version, thinking it may be better. Serious problems. The ramp has major dips causing my Airbus to fall on its side. Tried twice after loading and unloading. Same issue. Wnt back to the stable Real World version. Perhaps FeelThere will fix this.
