I just meant you’re the only person outside of AH I’ve heard use the word “toys.” I don’t disagree.
Same here. It is a game / hobby … for me to enjoy, relieve the stress of daily life … Nothing more nothing less …
Others may find it funny to see my previous post … it is one of my favorite planes in VR
Love the feeling seating in the cockpit meter away from two huge 450hp Radial engines…
This would have changed nothing. A good example is the window.
Sure, there’s actually two panes of glass, doesn’t excuse the fact that it looks like a graphical artifact.
I think the product has a lot of potential but If I were AH I would spend more time refining my product and getting it released rather than getting involved in spats with reviewers/customers, just a thought.
As I understood it a fix should be issued today (Thursday 7th OCT) according to the reply on YouTube is that still the case?
Yes, and as they say “any release that you can walk away from is a good one”
That shovelware approach however only works as long as you slip under the radar and people are not talking about you.
Not communicating with buyers and instead attacking an (imo) charming, funny and knowledgeable youtuber for not liking your (evidently in the video) underwhelming and mediocre modelling does not help that at all. The first strategy is called “lalala I dont hear you” the second is “kill the messenger.” It’s very childish behavior and imo they are currently undermining their future with this release. It should not have be released, heavily discounted (Early Access) refunded without any conditions or straight out pulled from the market.
100% agree, and the sad part is, all of this works on default planes, so even if they reuse in the interim just to get by until they have done their own, the model ok that will need fixing in one hit I guess.
Again they or one or some of the dev’s could be going through something bad who knows and I hope not, but ultimately none of us are mind readers so it needs communicating!!! and I am sure the vast majority would understand…but not when you dont communicate!
Even toys need to work as expected. Especially when you can compare them to competitor’s “toys” in the same price range.
Just look at what Just Flight and Milviz offer for the same kind of money. And how they communicate with their customers.
‘toys’ seems to have again struck a nerve…
The model is fine - the only issues I have with it is the sound of the engines being louder than the radio - or the inability to raise the volume of the radio for proper ATC functionality, and the avionics suite such as it is, not having authentic functionality.
This aircraft was only fitted with period technology so the AP was rudimentary and subject to all kinds of faults and failures. No pilot in that day could set it and forget it. You had to pay attention and monitor everything. I think some of the new ‘features’ of the MSFS SDK are still being discovered by some developers - and some of the functionality of those features is still being ironed out by MS /ASOBO
These are still early releases to a still evolving flight sim / game / toy. lol
Folks need to loosen up a bit maybe
I subscribe to this. I think the plane is very good, it needs a little love and a few corrections. I dealt with the too loud sound of the engines on my own (I recommend Audacity or similar). The systems work, also the tail wheel lock … it’s a bit too tight, and it’s also fun. There is no need to cry, they will correct it. I recommend a beautiful plane.
agree 100% - I have faith that AH will sort it out too. The ‘instant gratification’ mind set does more harm than good on the whole I think. No one is perfect.
I think “instant gratification” mindset is perfectly appropriate when you’re talking about buying a full released product. This is not beta or early access. It’s not being impatient for a release date. It’s spending real money on a full release. Instant gratification should be expected & delivered. Bugs & glitches and such do happen though, and that should also be expected to a degree. When they do, it is now on the developer to properly and professionally communicate to their customers while they fix the issues. This is where they’ve failed miserably, and because of that, I can’t bring myself to spend money on their products.
It’s disappointing. I want every developer to succeed, and planned to buy all 3 of AH’s current planes. I see the 140 still has outstanding issues that need patching, so held off on that one. Spitfire also needed patching, and received a patch on the same day this plane released, so is likely fine now. That being said, I can’t stomach supporting them with any purchase now based on what I view as a toxic, unprofessional view towards their customers. Once you start being negative towards the customers, the conversation shifts from the bugs/issues with the product towards their toxic response to customers. It’s no longer about the bugs. This is inexcusable. It doesn’t matter whether or not they’re right or wrong. There’s a better way to address it. Developers do so every day.
140 has no outstanding issues I am aware of besides the floatplane version needing wake/spray effects. (I am not counting some people’s complaints about the sound being too loud as this is purely a matter of opinion and not a bug or omission to be rectified.)
Also not aware of any toxic statements made to customers about this add-on. Forthrightly saying they disagreed with statements made in a review is not toxic. They’ve said “worse” on this forum in regards to some of their other products, but only to people who in my view deserved it.
‘full release’ and ‘finished product’ are just not the same thing - especially when a fully released product is intended for use in an unfinished one. This is all Beta and will be until MS and ASOBO have ended their development (not support, mind you - DEVELOPMENT) of MSFS.
Add to it the lack of definitions provided by MS of their unfinished SDK to these 3rd party developers who are less in partnership with them than others (Carenado vs AH etc) and it’s easy to see why there is so much disparity between these products. Some of us choose to give it time to be sorted and others refuse. ‘Instant gratification’ disorder is playing a key role - believe it or not
agree 100% - the customer isn’t always right - they are just always the customer. A business entity has the right to refuse service to anyone not wearing shoes lol - or being an A-hole
hell yes, I want them all Jan - and thank you for all your contributions to my flight sim enjoyment
And they sell it for money. If you bought a car you would also not accept the headlights and directional signals be installed at a later date. Basic functionality is missing. How is it entitlement when you want basics like mixture and flap indicators to work? This is the bare bones of flying not some fancy extra on the plane. If I had this mindset on quality and completeness I‘d be having a talk with my superiors at least. And I would love to see their faces when I tell them how entitled they are expecting me to create complete work, when they pay me. This will be hilarious. Then I will need a new job.
Go buy a cake at the bakery. If it is not fully done, well the poor baker put so much effort into it, you’ll surely accept his good intentions. No need to have a complete product.
This is not enthusiasts creating something out of love. It is a business. They earn money with it. There is no need for anyone to be grateful. They would also not accept you using it and paying at a later date. These people are as much your friends as the company you buy your groceries from…
This lacks professionalism and then it will result in critzism as it does with every product in the world. But somehow addon devs are such special snowflakes that they are exempt from any reproach.
Which they refund.
After knowingly putting a defective product on the market. Hmm. Anything else would be reprehensible.
They’re not the first and won’t be the last, this is the new normal.
