It will be interesting to see if the Devs jump on here. That is a big signal to me how dedicated they are to the plane and their customers.
Would be nice if any of the AH guys commented here, but Iād be reticent to read much into it whether they did or didnāt. Iāve seen some really out of bounds rudeness directed at them in discussions about previous releases and I know there are other devs who used to participate here who no longer do for similar reasons.
What matters is if they take action to improve some of the modelās shortcomings, and how promptly. Much as with all of the demands for Asobo to acknowledge issues more after sim updates, Iād rather developers be developing then talking⦠And since AH is pretty much all developers without a separate community management/PR department, that goes double.
Afaik they donāt need to apologize for releasing early. The crazy pace of releases at the moment seems to suggest an early release, nobody wants to be the last TPD to come with a 1930s plane after the community has spent all their money on 5 others. I get it!
All that is required is a plan how to iron out the shortcomings of the plane.
I watched some videos and somehow Iām itching to fly this one, just want to know that itās not being abandoned in this state.
yep, I recall one dev who is pretty much a one man operation a few months back posting that an update would be delayed because his wife had suddenly and unexpectedly been admitted to hospital and he was not in a position to finish the update right now and he got abused and told stuff like āi do not care about your personal issues I paid good money for this aircraft and have a right to an update right now, stop making excusesā.
Yeah that was David from Iris⦠I remember that. Utterly ridiculous and inhuman.
Wow, I missed that. Thatās extremely unfortunate. The problem too is those people who are so out of touch in their rhetoric give the rest of us a bad name. Any decent dev welcomes feedback but when the feedback becomes abusive, they shut the doors and the good feedback gets lost. Recently happened with a long-standing dev who has not responded to any emails after he was berated on these forums.
I didnāt know about that one specifically. Reprehensible, but, Iām sorry to say, not that surprising with the attitudes of some on this forum.
Edit: Found the old thread. Surprise surprise, the person behaving so horribly was someone I already had on ignore here.
It truly is. I have turned the engine sounds volume slider down to 10% (!). Plus the sound loops every 5 seconds or so.
I could live with the volume. 1930s aircraft are loud, Sound loops, OTOH, are another matter entirely. Bad juju.
I manually replaced the sounds now with those of a very well known c47/dc-3 mod from fsx. Different worlds. Not entirely realistic but at least sounds like a radial now.
Hopefully, theyāll patch this soon. Iād like to own it but looping sounds are a major dealkiller.
A few more bugs. No idea if they have been posted before, though:
-
Like the AH spitfire, the left window has some flickering going on
-
When flying through icing conditions, only the cockpit windows will freeze. The cabin/passenger windows will remain clear. Looks silly
Does prop feathering work?
Feathering works, but I canāt āun-featherā it afterwards. Have to press the āquickstartā shortcut-button again in order to remove feathering.
I might do something wrong though. The feather button is only pushable for me, canāt pull it back to normal position.
Only by pulling the prop levers to zero. The buttons designated for feathering are not working. The manual describes it as not working.
Bummer. Doesnāt sound like a serious effort. I think Iāll pass unless things drastically improve. Thanks for the info.
It kinda reminds me of the grumman widgeon, looked similiar after release (but was sold as early access IRC) and has become an excellent GA by now. Hopefully aeroplane heaven puts some more love into this bird. Love the electra
I REALLY REALLY hope they do. I love this aircraft - itās one of my favourites and there is SO much potential if the issues are resolved. It would be amazing then. And I am not talking about textures or anything of the sort. The systems issues are most concerning to me. And sounds. It looks good enough, with already the best night lighting in the cockpit (I think it shares the honour with the DC-6)
Does MSFS even support a push-button-to-feather prop function?
Unless you really really enjoy simulating one-engine scenarios I canāt see this as too big a deal.
Yes. PMDG implemented this in the DC-6 and Iāve had to use it on occasion. Radial engines arenāt particularly reliable so any decent simulation would simulate both the fact that they fail as well as including the necessary feathering controls.
