I contacted AH once, a couple of years ago though, they were pleasant and quick to respond.
Maybe it depends on the question one asks

It certainly does, if you ask a question about something they donāt feel like dealing with you generally either get told a) itās your fault or b) you donāt know what your talking about or c) both then get told to go away. While Iām sure there have been pleasant interactions with them (mine was until they realised what I was asking), Iāve heard so many similar stories to mine that there seems to be a pattern and canāt be excused by something like āI caught them on a bad dayā

I had quite an amusing exchange with them earlier in the year, as I was interested in purchasing the Fury/Nimrod, but only if there was to be a native 2024 version, so I emailed them and received this reply:
Can you point me to where it was announced a native version was coming
please? This is false information. We have said that it is compatible
and a Native version MAY come. We have not made any other statement.If the site or post is saying otherwise we will endeavour to get it
modified. There is a lot of this sort of thing going on and we need to
stamp it out fast.
So, I emailed them back pointing out that the information was actually on their own websiteā¦..
Unsurprisingly, I never bought the product.

It seems every couple months I get tempted to buy this. Is there any consensus on the best flight model at present: AH stock vs. one of the FS.to improvement mods?
Donāt know about Aeroplane Heaven version but I fly the stock Mustang with improvement mod and purchased sound pack and itās still awesome!
I use it with this alternative flight model ( Alternate flight model for Aeroplane Heaven P-51D - MSFS Add-on - Flightsim.to ) and the Echo19 sound pack ( P-51D Mustang ā Echo 19 Audio Production ). Itās pretty decent, but the flight model still isnāt completely convincing. Oddly enough, none of the current options implement CFD, even though it was enabled in AH stock versions previous to the most recent update.
I would avoid the other flight model mod on FS.to as that same creator did one for the OrbX Avenger that was mostly just a copy from the Milviz Corsair, so who knows what was used to āimproveā the flight model for the P-51D.
So basically itās still a mixed bag. I havenāt tried stock with improvement mod and the sound pack as suggested above, but you may be better off starting there, because the Echo19 sound pack can be applied to either the stock or the AH P-51D. At least you can hedge buyerās remorse that way.
I would highly recommend getting the Asobo Reno P-51d & downloading Randall Snowās Mod. Itās available from flightsim.to. It is the best Mustang on MSFS currently & is being assisted by Warbird & Mustang enthusiasts as well as real life Warbird pilots. It is also an evolving project & has both MSFS2020 & 2024 versions as well as a mod for the Asobo Reno T-6. AH is a good representation of a war period Mustang however it has 3D model issues & flight model & engine config errors. There is also a Mod for the AH mustang that is addressing the flight model & engine/prop config issues & it is a big improvement. If you do go either route I would highly recommend Echo-19ās payware sound file add on, It makes a world of difference to both Mustangs. My personal recommendation is Randallās mod & the Asobo mustang, it is the most realistic, has a great 3D model, good flight characteristics & is constantly being refined, added to & keeps getting better. It is however a Warbird/modern Mustang as opposed to a period war representation.
Try this mod for the AH Mustang, itās much better & I think it will be worked on further, the one you have is outdated due to a couple of AH updatesā¦ Aeroplane Heaven P-51 D MOD - MSFS Add-on - Flightsim.to How nice is the Echo-19 sound set?

The Echo 19 sound set is very good in my opinion. I canāt speak to how much it improves upon the Asobo P-51D, as I havenāt flown it in a long time and donāt recall having complaints about the sound. But for the AH P-51D, it is a big improvement.
The combination of the Asobo P-51D and Randallās mod as you suggested may be the most sensible approach to have a good P-51D in the sim.
The 3D model of the AH P-51D is indeed flawed. The scoop is off, but there is also something about the shape overall - like itās too fat or something.
Not to get off topic here, but the Asobo improvement mod on FS.to hasnāt been updated in a year. Is a more recent version posted somewhere else?

Nothing has really changed for either program really - still flies and sounds great in 2024 with mod and sound pack.

Thereās always an up to date beta of the Asobo mod on Randall Snowās Discord. Go to his download page on flightsim.to here. Then follow the link to the Discord. The latest mod is always posted on the Version History channel.

Well, if you want to bypass the Discordā¦ the ācurrent versionā post includes a changelog but provides a link to the file itself on Github - here it is.
That link is to the 2024 version. 2020 version is here.
I donāt know if the link changes from one beta version to the next. Randall says he has a new one in the works but the current one is 1.4.2.5, posted in December and further tweaked in February, but with the same version number.
I think the Discord is the only guaranteed way to stay current (unless you want to wait for the full public updates on flightsim.to) but hope these get you up to date.

You all beat me to itā¦ Randallās T-6 mod is also fantastic & I highly recommend Bomber_12th repaints for both planes. The fidelity they give to the 3D model in the sim are fantastic, especially in dwindling daylight situations & they are all currently flying warbird schemes correct inside & out.
