Currently external lights don’t work (taxing and landing) on Xbox, don’t know on PC.
@Dylanear I like much Carenado physics, even on the Piper Arrow the Just Flight version is betten on equipment and functionality, but after watching a review comparing both, the physics are some better on the Carenado version. I’d like the Carenado version would have the analogic (and that GPS100 ) equipment of the JS version, even if not the same functionality (all switches and buttons working), then probably would get it as it is the only one in the marketplace, required for Xbox users.
Something with my Virpil throttle config. All good now. 170B is flying nice and easy. Sadly the last of the weekend sim time was lost debugging this stuff, so odd how it effected some aircraft and not others. I never even found the issue. I just loaded the last known good saved profile and the problem was gone. Along with a problem I was having with the zoom view axis. Go figure.
I look forward to getting to know the 170B a little better soon.
I’m still having this issue in 1.2 version of the plane (170B and 170BT). The Alt-A workaround is okay. The fix seems simple have the cold + dark not modify the state of the alternator and just leave it on in th
e background.
After the Oct 19 update, the GPS starts at lowest brightness and the right side buttons are missing, so there is no way to change modes or exit brightness setting.
Think it uses a garmin aera, which was updated yesterday according to the patch notes. Looks like carenado might need to bump up to the new version.
Feel bad for them since their stuff’s plastered all over the marketplace this week and now this is broken through no fault of their own. The bright side is we’ll have an improved unit when it’s sorted.
I have a sound issue with this bird, too, if I have the Waco YMF-5 installed at the same time.
I actually LOVE the sound of the 170B when it is working correctly. Unfortunately, it sometimes seems to randomly switch sound tracks with the YMF-5 after 3-5 minutes of flight.
Tried all kinds of “fixes”, uninstalling, reinstalling both birds, etc. No joy.
Reported it back directly to Carenado and they said they would elevate it to their technical dept. Until I hear something back from them, though I have uninstalled the YMF-5. A pity because I like that one, too, but I think the 170B is more fun.
Does anyone else have this weird sound anomaly?
The more planes I got from Carenado, the more sound bugs I experienced across all of them. The biggest downfall for me perennially when it comes to those.
Update: Good news!
Knowing that they just updated MSFS with a ton of bug fixes a few days ago, I decided to give the YMF-5 another shot in my hangar simultaneously with the C170B.
It works! Unlike a month or so ago, both aircraft now retain their own unique engine sounds without any apparent interference/bleed-over to the other.
AND as an even greater bonus, I have found that all of my tail-draggers like the C170B and YMF-5 are now much more better behaved on the ground. They are more maneuverable to taxi but they are also much more predictable on take-offs and landings!!
Way to go Microsoft, Asobo, Carenado - and thank you!
Contacted Carenado yesterday about the C170B GPS after recent update.
Today I see the ticket marked ‘Solved’. But no comment about what was fixed or when the update will appear in sim.
Whoa. The tail dragging has been improved? I’ll try out the C170 again tomorrow. I did try the Spitfire after the update and it’s still an absolute joke to get into the air, but maybe the GAs are improved. Thanks for the heads up.
I hope you have good results! Don’t have the Spitfire, myself but I could barely ever get the YMF-5 off the run-way without some serious zig-zagging, before the latest sim update.
Taildraggers feel much better. Even the WACO. Tried in 12 knots 90 degrees crosswind and had no issue. Before it was more difficult. It still takes skill and practice but it is noticeably easier now.
Just flew this, all my electronics shut off mid-flight and my CHT gauge never moved despite lots of mixture changes. Are there bugs with this module now that SU6 released?
Saw somewhere that this could be a bug with the generator system under the “cold and dark start” option.
Have you tried it under same conditions using “ready for takeoff”?
