New Release : FlyingIron Simulations Spitfire L.F Mk IXc

Neil Pearl Jam is absolutely right
There is an annoying issue with the Spitfire, right now
I don’t want to be misunderstood, it’s a great aircraft, amazing aircraft
But there is a bug, somewhere…
Sometime, the engine just die, although I fly with the boost under 5, and the rpm pro is pretty low

negative G-s? Oil temp below 90, pressure above 30, radiator temp below 125?
RPMs below 2600, boost below 7. pitot heaters on depending on weather. fuel boost pump on. radiator open or auto as needed. Fuel?

Ive had mine cut a couple times temporary from what I think is either my controller issue or negative G-s. I might have been too close to 100 oil temp too.

Spitfire - Bug
That’s the issue

Hi, is there a way to lose the slipper tank?

You can remove it by putting a value of zero for the external tank in the weight and balance screen, or you can pull the handle on the lower right side of the cockpit to ‘jettison’ the tank.

Thanks Astronut, I did try to ‘jettison’ the tank using the handle but it didn’t do anything apart from cut the fuel. I’ll check my fuel settings more thoroughly.

I think you are pulling the wrong handle… just aft of the lever that has the OFF/FUEL JETT/ TANK FUSL/ON caption, there is another handle that looks kind of like a black 8. Click on that.

Don’t know why it’s default on, certainly wasn’t in practice and just ruins the lines.

Any news about the next update release date ??

Thanks Astronut, but that handle or setting external fuel to 0% doesn’t work for me. I’m going to try a re-install.

I hope that fixes it for you… Just curious, did you buy through the marketplace or from an external site?

I purchased direct from the developer.

All working fine now. She looks so much better…

Where are the guns?!? I purchased from the Marketplace just recently and there are no guns modelled in-sim. Everything shows that guns should be there, but no guns show up. Every livery shows guns in flightsim.to, but when I install, and I use Addons Linker, no guns in-sim! I have looked very carefully at all documentation, but there is no toggle for guns - and I wouldn’t think there should, or would be. I have looked at all files in the “Official” folder and nothing indicates that there are gun toggles. Very puzzling! Is it just a problem with the Marketplace purchase?

It’s not necessary a problem with the Marketplace purchase, weapons (even if unusable) are not allowed and so have to be removed from the model in order for it to be purchased on the Marketplace.

It would appear to no longer be politically correct to represent a warplane as it looked in reality. One must not allow children to see guns must one? Despite the fact that first person shooter games abound, apparently we cannot have an accurate looking Spitfire in the marketplace. What stupidity.

(Ps… The Spitfire as modelled does not look accurate. I reached out to the developer months ago regarding the way the upper fuselage looks immediately behind the cockpit. I have not seen any photographic evidence of the angular lines represented in this model. it appears to have been modelled after a drawing, not photographic evidence. I will happily be corrected on this issue, but until then my opinion stands.)

It’s a known thing with military aircraft - the Marketplace versions have weapons removed. If you wish to have them, you need to purchase directly from the developer.

For the weapons vs kids market, it is what it is. What isn’t good is the communication. The in-Marketplace images don’t show the canons, but all video reviews and the pics on FI’s site shows canons and there is no word (last I checked) about the differences between Spitfire models on any of those essential locations. You can only find multiple discussions about it in forums. Not everyone uses forums and should not be required too.

Seller’s need to be able to add into the description what is being sold here is different than through other stores. Also, changing the title of the plane would help clue people in, simply by adding something like “FlyingIrons Simulations Spitfire L.F Mk IXc Civ.” Then they may ask what the “Civ.” is for.

Although I generally agree, it does seem a little strange that inoperable Hispano cannons are not allowed but gun ports that would have housed machine guns are, for two of the aircraft depicted it’s not accurate to have Hispano cannons showing. G-IRTY doesn’t fly with them, it also a different aerial than the one depicted and of course different logos too. Ezer Weizman’s Black 57 flew with four cannon muzzle fairings, so had four small stubs protruding instead.

It does seem they modeled a singular Spitfire and then applied paint schemes without changing some parts of the exterior model to match their real world counterparts, like the aerial and the cannon muzzles.

Well, that being the case, I am making this UNBREAKABLE commitment to NEVER, EVER AGAIN purchase ANYTHING from the Marketplace. If this is the kind if childish, unadulterated nonsense that they are going to get up to, then they are going to have to swill in their own pool of you know what.

I have never seen such an insult from any flight sim source as this. Grow up, children!!!

I only buy material from the marketplace that I cannot get anywhere else. In my case carenado. Otherwise I buy direct from the developer where possible.
