Per the manual, you need to pressurize the tank prior to starting and you won’t have any problems. Turn on the magnetos, open the fuel tank valve, pump the wobble pump until the fuel pressure light goes out, prime the engine, then start it. No problems.
I tried, but as soon as you depressurize the tank, the problem reappears
Actually, you don’t have to pressurize the tank below 12,000 feet. So I think it’s a bug.
I’m not sure what you mean by “depressurize the tank.” I never use the boost pump to start, or close the fuel pressure handle (which is only needed above 12,000’). I just use the wobble pump until the fuel pressure light goes out. Once the engine is running, there’s nothing more to do. The Startup procedure is pretty straightforward:
I do like you, and as indicated in the manual.
But when my engine starts, it goes crazy!
Cuts, flames etc…
The only solution I have found to avoid this, is to put the Fuel Tank Pressure ON,
and the engine runs normally.
The check-list indicates that the fuel tank pressure should only be set to ON at 12,000 feet normally. But in my case, I have to put it on the parking area… or my engine will explode.
So there is a bug.
Yes, there is a bug on the Marketplace version of the Spit.
I made the mistake of originally buying from the Marketplace and didn’t realise the 6-10 week delay on patches with that version (not to mention missing cannons). I enjoy the Spit so much that last week I doubled down and bought a second copy via direct purchase. I can confirm that their latest version has a hotfix applied that fixes this bug, so it will come to marketplace/Xbox eventually.
Side note. If anyone is sick of being ‘buzzed’ by a Spit over Sydney every day for the last week pls don’t worry. It’s just my 7yo son enjoying himself immensely

Totally agree, it’s for that reason that I don’t use Marketplace and buy from the Developer direct.
Oh, and if it’s a dogfight your son wants
Thank you!
How do I get the iPad to show? I can’t see it mentioned in the manual.
Marketplace is ■■■■, I’ll never buy another thing from it and possibly even Asobo. Bad customer service, they play the blame game with developers who support their store & just flat out aren’t any help at all with anything, even their own software… I have had far better & more support from the community & it’s developers.
iPad is down the left hand side of the seat, rear of the other switches. Click on it to bring it out.
Anyone else had an issue with the iPad “engine damage”? It shuts down my engine immédiately after I enable it even if everything (temperatures, rpm) are right. If I enable it before start the engine, the engine will never start even if I respect the checklist carefully, and even with ctrl+e… is that a bug or something or it’s just me?? Thx for help
Engine damage option is broken on xbox, see multiple posts above. I haven’t seen @Donny6171 acknowledge this but hopefully they are aware and a fix will eventually arrive in marketplace.
As mentioned above, I found that with the engine damage turned on, you need to turn on the fuel pressure pump (located bottom right of the firewall, red coloured lever). This is usually only required over 12500 ft IIRC, so not sure why it’s the case now, but I’ve been flying it heaps recently and that has worked fine.
On Xbox by the way.
Ok thx guys, I will try to use pressure pump, I hadn’t the idea since it’s normally not intended to be used on ground or 2000 ft… But well if it’s working and if a fix is planned that’s fine. What bothers me is that I am on a PC, I hope not to be the only concerned on PC!
Are you using it from marketplace? Perhaps it’s not just xbox but both platforms on marketplace. For sure some PC users with non-marketplace add-on report it works correctly.
Yeah, exactly. If you have the latest package straight from the FlyingIron site, everything is working fine. In fact, Saturday of this past weekend, I took the Spit from C&D up out of Honolulu to 27,000’ over Molokai to the east-southeast, then back to land at PHNL. About 55 minutes total with no issues.
I must admit, I purschased it from marketplace…
I can confirm that turn on the fuel pressure pump works even on pc! Finally I can use engine damages !
Hi all, we are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in our next update
Cheers,
Alex
I couldn’t resist the opportunity to fly Storm Eunice in live today. 60kt wind, the prop was spinning from cold. I didn’t need to prime or crank it, just fuel and magnetos and it started itself.
When taking off, the tail was up within 5 metres and takeoff was correspondingly shorter. Landing was fine but taxiing downwind was tricky, hard to stop without nose bonking. And I even when I turned it all off the prop carried on rotating.
I don’t normally fly busy airports with traffic. It was kind of funny to hear Heathrow ATC say “Speedbird 797 cleared to land 27L follow the Supermarine Spitfire on final”.
