New Release : FlyingIron Simulations Spitfire L.F Mk IXc

Tried that but didn’t work. I’ll have a look at the keybindings.

I wasn’t in multiplayer, but saw some Spitfires at RAF Valley when I was setting up a flight and spawned next to them on the apron. I have switched off Tail Signs through settings…

It seems so absurd to me that developers are still releasing aircraft without paint kits. Especially a warbird! Do they not understand how a selection of custom and user created liveries expands the longevity of their product? Or is a paintkit just not a priority at all as people will just find a way to make liveries without them. I just don’t understand the decision to not include one.

Edited for clarity.

Great post on facilities and how RAF could avoid crosswind in operation. He has a few more in the thread, very interesting.

Judging by how it is now, the devs have made a supreme effort in providing a superb product that has won almost universal instant acclaim. So any criticism about if they care or not is quite simply exceedingly unfair. To get to this stage must have taken a great deal of time and effort so I am not in the least surprised that they have not yet released a paintkit - I am surprised at the nice range of liveries that come already and for now that should be good enough.

But it will come; there are still a few improvements to be made and it is my belief that those are more important than paintkits. As always you must not expect to have everything you personally want immediately, life doesn’t work like that.

Have patience, friend, and enjoy what you’ve already got.

You misunderstood me. I wasn’t saying FlyingIron doesn’t care about the product they released, don’t be silly.

I was posing the question of whether developers in general realize how useful a paintkit can be in the long term, or if they don’t care because people will just edit the textures already included in the package, or some other reason.

Not including a paintkit at release matters to me and is something I feel is worthy of criticism. You are free to disagree.

My apologies if I misunderstood and didn’t quite appreciate the actual depth of your comment.
On reflection my reaction was probably more against the unfortunate occasions when, shall we say, immature folk start making instant criticisms, a practice which sometimes make me want to throw my hands in the air and swear and which we see far too much of. Should have looked more at your status of course - you are obviously not part of that crowd.
Although I don’t totally disagree nevertheless I still think a modicum of patience is in order.

Well after three days immersed in this plane I have to say this is fantastic. For me it was £20 very well spent.

I think like many on here, I struggled at first with take off’s and landing’s but now it’s all coming together. Now that run down the runway as the tail lifts of the ground and the power is slowly fed in feels great and nailing a three point landing is just fab.

Apart from using the manual that came with it I have been using a lot of the techniques discussed in this link below. I know it was written for the earlier variants of the Spitfire, but the techniques in here have really helped me to fly and enjoy this plane. As other OP’s have mentioned this is not easy, but boy does it give a lot back in term’s of satisfaction as it comes together. Well worth the effort to persevere if anyone is having troubles with it.

Thank you for confirming. I also got the feel that she is floating forever. Others than that she is an awesome bird and a joy to fly.

Yeah man… that feeling you get when you feel you have it nailed? Nothing like it.

After a bit more practice I was able to fly form EGSG to EGSX and land on a fairly short runway. Helped that there was a 10 knots right down the runway!! Thanks for all the tips on this thread

Just took a first flight in VR with this beauty and was curious as to how it stands up against other aircraft I usually fly in VR and holy ■■■■■, it was absolutely stunning.
The attention to detail is mind boggling and I don’t think I’ve ever stared at a wing so many times during any flight I’ve ever took :joy: probably the smoothest flight I’ve ever had in VR too so no performance hit whatsoever, worth every single penny and then some :gift_heart:

My only disappointments are the missing fire/smoke bursts from the engine on start-up, sometimes ugly, blocky cockpit reflections & the chance of the prop not starting first time. Those three things would take this plane up a level but are held back by Asobo currently.

I think they wanted to push it out ASAP for the 85th Anniversary of Spitfire which was on the 5th of March. The paint kit is surely coming soon.

It really is an absolute joy to fly, nightmare to land and the most fun I’ve had in the sim so far.

Was about to say this verbatim. Quality work.

A must rewatch for everyone who bought this bird.
