New Release: FlySimWare's Grumman G-44A Widgeon Seaplane

I took a short flight around KHAF and could not get the aircraft to trim. It seems fixed to nose up trim and would not adjust, requiring constant forward pressure on the yoke to hold level flight. Other than that, taxi, takeoff and landing were great. Any thoughts?

Would you stop? Or do I need to put you on my ignore list?

I have the update and it’s working fine. On the checklist along with the static elements you can select hydraulic flaps and LG actuation. Both of these controls work perfectly.
They have added the heat exhaust blur for both engines as well.

The altimeter seemed to be working alright here EDIT Nope - it is not working

  • did you uninstall the last version? or did you just run the new installer over the existing?

Aircraft trims out just fine here - did you notice they moved the nose up optimum marker? (that blue indicator on the guage overhead) just be patient and make sure you are cruising at about 50% throttle.

My HUD said trim was defaulting to + 4.
I’ll try it again in a bit.

I don’t use HUD - I just assign stuff to the controller buttons and sliders and use the aircraft gauges and indicators if they have them.
If someone asked me I’d tell them I can’t stand the HUD meters and only use them when beta testing - and only if I’m forced to

who else is on that thing? I bet all the cool kids are on it

N68102 looks nice, and N269AK. It’s going to be tough to find Ranger powered paints that aren’t WWII era.

I just got another email from Flysimware about the update Beta 1.9 timestamped 6:08 PM local time
the first email was from this morning but both have the same version number

anyone else get a second email?

I did. I believe this fixes some issues according to the little e-mail blurb. Will test it later. Time for another episode of Twin Peaks. (watching for the first time!)

well I was hoping it was a hotfix (under the same version number) for the broken altimeter - sadly not the case. It looks like it’s just a duplication of the original 1.9 beta notice

The rest of 1.9 is just fine - the hydraulic controls work perfectly for the gear and flaps

Apparently, the tail lock controller binding also doesn’t work since 1.9
2.0 is coming shortly he said.

I have not been using a tail wheel lock - the boat seems to track on TO and landing ok without it
on land anyway - the water taxiing is a different thang altogether
Glad to hear that he is already aware of the squawk sheet though - thanks

I just downloaded Beta 2.0 btw

Are there patch notes available anywhere? Would like to see what issues are being fixed. Promising that the patches are coming thick and fast!

Usually in that e-Mail he sends out with the updates or on the Avsim thread which is where the dev is active.

And?..

altimeter is fixed
can’t speak to the tailwheel lock, but nothing seems to have been borked by the update - so that’s a win.

Another short hop around KHAF. Handles great in the air BUT still has issues with trimming to level flight @ 1800 RPM or so. I can fly it that way but it just doesn’t feel right.

What happened to ground handling? Before the update, I was steering easily during taxi using differential thrust, braking, and the rudder pedals. Today, not so much. More Beta bugaboos, perhaps?

Visually, does anyone else find it odd that, when the engines stop, both props are in the same position parallel to the ground?

So I did a test of 2.0 earlier today. No issues with trimming at all. But the ground handling is definitely more difficult. So is the landing. You gotta be more careful not to nose it over. It actually feels like more of a proper taildragger now with all the negatives that come with that. I actually appreciate the challenge.
