i downloaded the latest version but have no engine sounds, i have the pitts and the sound on thats fine the sound folder looks ok. am i missing something? apart from the sound the aircrafts great.
Make sure you have the Default C172 installed.
Just downloaded the c172 and the sound worked, thank you so much for your instant reply .
David, it’s from IRIS Store.
Just downloaded the latest PC version from the Iris store and the switches all seem fine to me, in both pancake and VR…
I was getting this issue with most of the switches along the bottom row initially, but the last update seems to have sorted that out, along with the radio stack and GPS now working.
One other issue that I have been having is that when flying with other people in multiplayer and they come within a mile of my position, I get their engine noise within my cockpit. This was confusing at first because I was sitting on the ground with my engine turned off, and they were up in the circuit. Until recently, this was a problem that I’ve only had with the Tutor. However, the same issue is also true of the Carenado Staggerwing which has just been released, and so it may be a sim issue.
In the Tutor, as well as the sounds from others being heard in the cockpit, the aircrew models pop in so that you end up sitting inside of them if that makes sense? The quick fix for this seems to be to go into external view and then straight back into the cockpit.
Otherwise, the aircraft gets top marks from me. It’s really nice to have an RAF aircraft that’s had some real effort put into it, and with lots of lovely liveries. I really appreciate the regular updates too.
Hopefully, something can be done to sort out the multiplayer issue with engine noise and aircrew glitching. I should add, I’m running the sim on Xbox.
The double switch etc thing is probably the bug where the game shows internal and external cockpit views simultaneously. it effects quite a few planes though it was meant to have been fixed.
I can’t get the engine started for the life of me. It starts up fine when I hit crtl+e. But if I go through the sequence manually it just won’t start. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I don’t have this issue with any other aircraft.
Tips?
Thanks
An old video and the Grob has been updated several times to fix some of the concerns mentioned, however the starting sequence (if I recall correctly) is in this video around the 4 minute mark.
That’s exactly what I’m doing but it won’t start for me. I have no idea what the issue is
I do the following:
Bat on.
Gen on.
Fuel cut off open.
Fuel pump on for 5 secs during which time I turn on lights and avionics.
Fuel pump off.
Magneto both.
Throttle approx… 20%, prop 0%, mixture 85%
Starter button.
Engine starts.
Fuel pump on.
Starts every time.
Tried that. I have to click the start button multiple times for it to catch. Weird.
I don’t have this issue with any other plane.
Are you running the latest version? I commented a couple of weeks ago here that I couldn’t start it from cold and dark but that is now resolved with the latest update.
I thought I did. I’ll check again though. Thanks for the tip!
Before the latest update it would start for me from cold and dark (I’m on Xbox). Now it won’t start at all. I have a keyboard attached so at least I can Ctrl+E, but it’s frustrating that it no longer operates the way it did!
Same here. But I’m on PC in the steam version. And I just checked. I have the latest update
What version of the Grob do you have?
The readme should show v2.3.0
The manifest.json shows package version 2.2.8
Aircraft was starting fine this morning for me, downloaded the latest version this afternoon and now the aircraft won’t start on the button, nothing changed in my start up between then so only thing I can figure is the update changed something.
Starts on Ctrl+E every time, just not using the start up sequence.
Also on PC (Steam), Grob version is 2.3.5 which is the latest version according to Content manager.
That’s exactly what I am experiencing. So the last update broke something I’m afraid
After reading the above posts this morning I logged in to MSFS via Steam. There was a small patch to the sim (not Steam and not sure when that was released).
I then chose the Grob and Leuchars for a Cold and Dark start as I always do. Recorded it so you can see how it worked for me. Not had an issue with (what I thought was) the latest version.
However after posting this I realised that everyone was talking about Grob version 2.3.5 and I discovered I was still on 2.3.0. So I downloaded that and tried the same again with the new version.
This worked first time as well. Sorry for those that it is not working with but maybe there is a conflict somewhere that I don’t have.
For reference I normally use a HOTAS but that was not set up this morning so I was using the mouse only.
Oh, and my version I bought direct from IRIS on the day of release.
