When this released a few days ago, I was puzzled as to why… until I realised it’s not another MXI version but a new and entirely separate rendition by SceneryTR. Hard to say if it rivals the MXI version in quality and accuracy. SceneryTR are a Turkish dev but I think MXI are too (or are certainly based in the region).
No mention of a 2024-native version so MXI’s might have the edge by default. If anyone who doesn’t already have MXI’s goes for this, please let us know how you find it.
I own Istanbul LTFM and Trabzon from this team and I like it. Not sure if I would buy this one though when I already own the MXI’s rendition and I consider that one awesome, probably their best airport ever.
mxi: Focuses heavily on interior details. While visually memorable, loading these unseen objects into RAM and VRAM causes performance issues (flickering, FPS drops) during critical phases like the final approach. If you delete the building models in mxi to fix the lag, you are left with a mediocre experience because the apron and airside use standard, limited simulator assets.
Scenerytr: Prioritizes optimization. Interior objects are only placed where visible (apron-facing), ensuring smooth performance on PC, Xbox, and PS5 without sacrificing the look of the terminal from the outside.
2. The Airside & Ground Physics
mxi: Relies on standard ground textures and terrain data, resulting in a generic feel on the runway and taxiways.
Scenerytr: Features custom-designed ground textures and realistic terrain modeling. The runways and taxiways have accurate slopes and elevations, making the flight and taxi experience significantly more realistic.
3. Conclusion
mxi is suitable if your primary goal is exploring inside the terminal.
Scenerytr is the better choice for serious simulation, offering a stable approach, higher FPS, and a much more realistic airfield environment
I’ve been using scenerytr’s scenery for a very long time. I also bought LTFM and LTCG. MSFS is a flight simulator. What I expect from a simulator is realism. And scenerytr offers me that, at least in the airports they’ve created. Whether the restaurant inside the terminal is built or not doesn’t affect my flight much What’s important to me are the taxiways, realistic terrain conditions, the terminal building, and the control tower, if there is one Compared to what MXI did, it looks like it’s built on top of a satellite image. SceneryTr’s scenery satisfied me. The only downside is that they released it after MXI. I had to pay for both of them
You will be able to purchase the Scenerytr add-on this week on Contrail and flightsim.to
Scenerytr is designed to offer the highest level of accuracy for airline pilots and professional simulator users.
The attention to detail extends beyond the terminal. Roads are fully 3D modeled rather than relying on flat satellite imagery. This ensures that detailed models and animations are clearly visible, whether you are observing the terminal parking area or looking down during your final approach.
Interiors: The apron-facing terminal interiors feature all necessary details visible from the cockpit. As you dock the jetway, you can witness a living environment with passengers boarding/deboarding and populated waiting areas.
Ground Services: Active ground services and operational airport functions create a dynamic and immersive atmosphere.
Immense craftsmanship has gone into every ground measurement and texture.
Textures: The transition between concrete surfaces and grass is seamless and highly realistic.
Lighting: Taxiway lighting features custom-placed new models, detailed down to the specific cable ducts and grouting channels.
This add-on focuses heavily on the technical details essential for a realistic flight experience:
Runway Elevation: The runway features accurate elevation changes, starting at 92 meters and sloping down to 80 meters.
Accurate Taxiways: The slopes on the taxiways are modeled to match real-world airline documentation, requiring pilots to adhere to specific speed rules to avoid tail strikes.
Been live on Contrail for me since last night. Anyone else noticed how the marketing screenshots there don’t look as good as the dev’s own above?
I think simmers would be happy with either one — MXI’s looks prettier, no doubt, but SceneryTR’s will likely be more accurate (and has definitely received more attention around the perimeter).
This is the only LTFJ I see in Contrail app. It’s not even in the New Releases section on the main page of the app. I’ll wait till tomorrow and then I’ll ask them what’s going on on their Discord channel.
