New Simmers: Introduce Yourself!

Hello new to this and have a question about msfs 2024. I have 200 GB data limit per month will I be able to play. Please put me on the right path.

Hello @BornMeteor04735 and welcome to the forums! :slightly_smiling_face:

That is a difficult question to answer at the moment as, since MSFS 2024 is so new, there is very little data from users on how much bandwith has been used by the game.

A lot depends on the type of flying that you do - flying around more complex scenery areas - major cities and airports - downloads more data than when flying in more rural areas.

The only hard data I can give you is from my own experience. Since launch, In five days Iā€™ve flown approx 8.5 hours, and, excluding the data download for the intitial download & updates (around 13 GB), Iā€™ve used ~ 650 MB while flying - mostly in rural areas, but some around Tokyo & its airport:

So that works out to around 76.5 MB (0.61 GB ) per hour. So at that rate, I could fly every day for around 9-10 hours before I hit a 200 GB limit.

Hope this helps.!

Hi, Iā€™m Jared. I like customizing my hardware and software. Iā€™ve built a led indicator program to detect gear position from the SDK and output it to an LED through USB and I have custom joysticks that I like to tinker with. Iā€™m excited about working with MSFS 2024

A post was split to a new topic: Does Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack X Airbus Edition work with MSFS 2024?

Hi, I am ā€˜CarbnFtprintā€™ and I just joined this forum.

I am playing Flight Simulator 2020 on PCe (VR). So flight simming in VR is what I am most interested in.

Before, I was playing FS2020 on XBOX. Actually I bought XBOX series X more or less because of the release of FS2020 (as a cheap option to get good performance). For VR I moved from XBOX to PC, which I built out of the motivation to get good VR flight sim performance.

I started with Flight Sims back when playing SubLogic flight simulator II on my Commodore Amiga in 1990. Afterwards I played more or less all MSFS releases. E.g. in 2001 I built a PC specifically for playing FS2002, which with itā€™s new Autogen was a big step ahead. I was so happy when FS2020 was announced!

I would love to see FS2024 giving at least 40 constant FPS in VR to have it running smoothly on my Q3. Even with graphics options set to low and even in some remote areas with nothing special, I am not able to get constant 40 FPS in VR, where FS2020 gives me 70 FPS in the same situation, but with graphics settings near maxed.

Tried everything, but it is really frustrating. With 7800X3D, RTX4090 and 32 GB RAM you would expect that it should run FS2024 with FPS usable for VR - but currently it does not.

I loved FS2002 and 2004 as well! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it. I am new to this thing myself on Xbox X and FS2024.

The first simulator I ever owned was Microsoft Flight Simulator 4 on my IBM PC/XT. What a different world today!

Hi, you can call me: Narvi
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: PC

I did play with fsx and fs2004 like 11 years ago when I was on my early teens, now that I have a decent PC Iā€™m back to give it another try! I did fiddle around with FS2020 but I felt lost on what path I have to follow to properly learn how to fly. On fs2024 with the career mode and the licenses and all now Iā€™m properly engaged to the point I just ordered an Ursa minor fither joystick (Iā€™m currently using a ps5 controller)

Now I just hope the 32gb of ram at 3200mhz solve the GPU driver crashes I sometimes have on msfs2024. I currently have an AMD 7600rx, 16gb of ram at 2400mhz and a i5 11400f.

Just found that it can be AMD adrenalin and not msf2024, mainly due to higher clocks than it should be. I asume this because everytime the game crashes, my adrenalin driver resets.

Hej im Alex from Germany. Flying on Xbox. Iā€™ve been with MSFS since my youth with 98 then and didnā€™t really know what I did.
Iā€™m still in love with this Sim and really like the Career Mode as addition.

Old guy with a 14 YO son who lives in Cedar City Utah, near to the airport (walking distance) and wants to fly. SUU specializes in flying. Used MSFS 2020 for a bit but didnā€™t like the controls and lack of proper setup. I bought the Next Level Racing chair (full setup) and built a PC RoG Strix X870-E, 64GB, ASRock Phantom 7900XTX card and it makes gameplay smooth. I, however, being 69 YO and not a gamer, am struggling with the Honeycomb Bravo setup. Hope to contribute, eventually, when I actually know something!

Hi @Ijonesfr and welcome to the forums! :slightly_smiling_face:
That is a very impressive home cockpit you have there!

Hey Everyone,

Name is Gorbahchano. Canadian boy New to simming. Upgraded the PC to play on steam as I struggle with a fear of flying (Iā€™ve flown many time in my life but as an adult and now its cumbersome, stepped off my last plane back in August 2023)

Aiming to turn my issue into a fascination and enjoyment. Iā€™ve done a few flights already and basically what im trying to do is automate the flights as much as possible (which amazingly pilots IRL seem to do) and then i drone view to pretend Iā€™m sitting in the passenger area. I do this all in VR. Did some of the msfs 2020 tutorial stuff in the cessna and loved the feeling.

Would love to hear any suggestions anyone might have to help me along this journey as Iā€™ve mainly been doing short trips from my closest airport to the next and a couple longer ones. I have already been working with a therapist on the panic side of things for this so this is my exposure step up to this and as mentioned Iā€™ve loved re-engaging the anxiety as curiousity and awe looking out the windows.

Looking forward to contributing to what looks like an amazing community and hope to join you all in the skies virtually and IRL soon
