So I spawned in at CYWK, where it’s currently supposed to be snowing.
No snow falling, but snow all over the ground.
The real kick in the pants is that I spawned in with my aircraft completely frozen over and iced up, basically useless for flight.
Not really what I’d call a good start.

I mean intuitively it makes sense… haha cold and dark in a snowy airport your plane will be all iced up and snow covered… Could you start your engine throw on all the de-ice?
I was in a C172. Nothing I could do about the icing. Had to exit.
Deicing via the ground services would be an amazing option to have… More than once during cross-country flights I’ve had to land after a sudden icing and even though the sky has cleared up have no way to deice the aircraft.

I was wondering about that. If you’re going to simulate icing, as you noted, there should be an option to deice, even it’s just getting outside the plane with a scraper
But, even for airliners, they NEED a deice procedure before takeoff, too. I’m surprised they didn’t think of that.

I haven’t tried it but for a quick n dirty way to “de-ice” can you not disable icing and then re-enable?

I haven’t tried. BUt icing is instant.
My live weather doesn’t work automatically like it should. I have to use the workaround where I load in with default clear weather, and then select live weather to get it to work.
It’s instant. The second I load live weather, the plane is completely iced over. No delay, no buildup. Windshield and other windows are completely covered and you can’t see through them. Control surfaces are thick with ice.
Not sure if that would work. And honestly, I shouldn’t have to do that in order to fly my plane.

i checked it out, no snow coming down. Other airports that are suppose to have snow have none in air or ground. I fired up unreal weather at your airport and snow coming down.
Until they fix their default live weather, I see unreal weather mod as the better option.

What happens if you spawn on the runway, engine running?
Interesting. After the update I went to CYUL but no snow on the ground. However, the skies were pretty accurate with the coverage and since it’s not snowing now, no snow is falling.
So I wonder why CYWK had snow coverage and not here.
That seems to work. Snow on the ground, but no snow falling as it should be. ANd my plane didn’t ice up.
EDIT: Spoke too soon

Sounds pretty realistic to me. You can always change the weather/time of year in the sim.

A plane doesn’t ice up in dry conditions because it’s cold. That’s not realistic at all.

Ya I mean if it’s cold and snowing you aren’t necessary going to fire up your Cessna but ya I feel the instant icing is a little crazy… Fly in a TBM, fire it up and throw your de-icing on, best plane ever…

These aircraft Cessma 172 are not made to fly on these temperature, pilot do not use these in real life, select the proper aircraft for these condition which have de-ice function and heat function.

I realize that. They’re not certified for FIKIC. I really wasn’t expecting to be able to make a long flight with the Cessna. Just wanted to see what the snow looked like.
But there’s no snow falling when there should be, and the insta-icing is horribly unrealisitc.

out of curiosity, has anyone seen falling snow as of yet…anywhere?
I think falling snow in Live weather will be implemented when they add Seasons (no releasedate for that as of yet).
try going to CYCY, supposed to be a blizzard. not at gaming machine to test right now
buddy, do you have anything POSITIVE to ever say about the sim? lol
