New SSD drive Half Full

Bought a new Samsung 1TB SSD just for this game. After downloading the game, 2 patches, 2 airports and Carenado 182 the thing is over half full. Not going to take long at all to fill up, wish I’d have bought a 2TB. What happens when it’s full, can I add a 2nd one, I’m thinking everything needs to be on the same drive.

Yes I would like to know the answer on this, I currently have a 1tb as well just for games or just one in this case!

You can use symlinks if you need to. Like some X-Plane people do that have massive sceneries.
But personally I’d have it all on one disk.

Maybe system restore taking too much of the drive?

How big did you set your rolling cache and manual cache? most people put them way bigger than they need to be.

You worried me, so I checked and FS2020 (also patched, but just one extra airport) is only taking up 107GB on my drive, not counting the rolling cache. For the most part, patches overwrite existing files, rather than add to them. Sounds like something else is taking up all that space. A utility like WinDirStat might help you find out where the culprit is.

@ JohnSnyderJr I don’t know what takes up so much space on your site, but my Flight Simulator folder is 155GB in size. Of this 50GB are ROLLINGCACHE.CCC and 5GB MANUALCACHE.CCC. So the pure Flight Simulator (Premium Deluxe) is 100GB big for me.
My FS2020 is not modified, no Addons, no liveries.

My manual cache is 300GB but I have no idea how to change it. I change it to 10GB and it goes right back to 300GB. That’s what’s taking up all the space.

Have you tried looking at any of the youtube videos about cache management? They are always coming up on my feed but I don’t fiddle with it so I can’t advise you myself.

I MOVED my install using the Apps and Features Manager (Win 10 Program Install) where you can find your MSFS and instead of uninstalling it, it lets you MOVE it to a new drive. It works fine for me, except I had to tell the patch where it was as it wanted to go to the old location. I moved it from one SSD to another SSD (like yours, exclusively for MSFS).

You cant make it smaller I don’t think. You just gotta delete it and make a new one of a smaller size. Mine was 16GB but it didn’t really help anything so I just deleted it completely.

Yeah, mine takes up well over half of the dedicated 1 TB drive, but that’s because I’ve got giant chaches. The game install itself, including a few aftermarket airports and planes and post-latest-update is at 187 GB.

Did you go in and actually manually cache things? Mine’s helped immensely in the areas that I have cached.

You can always clone a drive, copying the first one onto a larger one, should be able to swap them and the computer never knows the difference other than the extra free space. Links to software for that usually come with a new SSD or you can search for it, it’s usually free.

I have a pair of 1TB SSDs in my build and I too am thinking at some point I’ll want a 2TB or more as my gaming drive. The 1TB for the OS drive seems a bit overkill, but 1TB is not as massive at it once was now MSFS is on it, but I still have AMPLE room.

You need to delete the MANUALCACHE.CCC and ROLLINGCACHE.CCC, tells you the location in the manual cache menu, default is in the app data. Might need to select show hidden folders if you haven’t already. Google it if you dont know how. Then just make it a new manual cache.

I got my home area cached since I usually fly there but everywhere else I just let it stream from the net. I don’t notice a difference between them so I might just get rid of that cache too.
