I have my external speakers plugged into my motherboard as my default sound device. My headset, which I use as my communication device for ATC, is plugged into my system’s sound card.
My first flight following SU8, I noticed all communication including what had previously been coming through my headset, was now coming through my external speakers. I went into the sim sound settings and assigned the “main device output selection” to my external speakers and assigned the “communication device output selection” to my headphones. All worked as it should and I was getting communication through my headset and all other sounds through my external speakers.
The settings however won’t stay applied after rebooting and starting a new flight. Every new flight after reboot, I have to go back into the sound settings and re-apply and save the “main device output selection” and “communication device output selection” even though the proper options are already being displayed. In other words, it doesn’t reset to system default device, it is still displaying the proper sound options in the menus, but I have to re-apply and save those options after every new flight following a reboot.
I’m seeing the same thing!
I never noticed this in the two beta releases, something must have gone awry in the final version
Edit: adding that controls sensitivity also gets reset upon each startup. I tried creating a new profile to see if that would work around the problem, no luck.
Same here have to set it every time I start the sim. I just been getting in the habit of doing it on every startup. This only since SU8 and is abet of a pain in the butt.
I don’t know if it’s related but occasionally when I come out of VR I don’t get sound back.
I’ve tracked it down to losing 1 set of speakers (labeled USB 2.0 Sound). I have to reboot to get it back.
I don’t make reports to Zendesk anymore. I’ve probably made 6 reports for various bugs/issues in the past, but they’ve never been a help. They always send a cut and paste generic reply that usually blames the user for the issue. I look to the community for support now.
Just for anyone’s information if you change ANY setting in the general option menu and save, then the sounds will work correctly as you have them set up in the sim. I have also heard this is fixed in the next update.
