okay what i have now is ryzen 7 3700x water cooled with a corsair H45 32gb DDR4-3200mhz ram gtx 1080 2k monitor but running at 1080p. currently awaiting my 1080ti to be shipped mother board is B450 tomahawk max i know i have to change mobo if going back to intel.
I’m thinking about upgrading my CPU but not sure to which one ryzen or intel i’m currently undecided what would use guys think and were i would get the benifit the most on performance.
Thanks in advance
The best upgrade you can do is Ryzen 5000 series. A 5900X would be ideal to be also future proof.
Once the GPU market is stabilized you can think about a RTX 3080 to replace the 1080 Ti.

but the 1080TI will do for now and should still notice better performance over the 1080 right?
If you are staying at the 1080p resolution yes. You should be fine for now. Just try not to go overboard with the settings.
Also, unless you are planning to use the PC for productivity tasks as well i would probably top out at 5800x. The 5900x will net you one or two more frames in the sim but If the rig is soley for gaming and not something like blender or some sort of production heavy workload save the cash by getting the 5800x and upgrade something else. I also have no issues with Mr Fuzzys recommendation as i actually did upgrade to a 5900x but i was willing to splurge. If there are budget constraints 5800x is just as good single thread wise and you wont lose out on the clockspeed either once you get your head around PBO 2 and curve optimizations.
Cheers
5900X is overkill for any simming or gaming workload.
5600X is the sweet spot right now, 5800X if you want to future proof.
