This issue was already presented at the beginning of MSFS2024 release, but it did not receive much attention and no one raised it.
need to fix it as soon as prosible
Will active lighting also be provided for rainy days with poor visibility or fog?
Apparently this was recently added in the SDK - not sure if it’s something being applied to default airports or what, though. Credit to @WombiiActual for sharing on their discord server ![]()
Yes! It means that scenery creators who make fully custom runway and approach light setups using lightrows can now bring the lights alive in daylight, which is awesome.
Here are some before and afters:
I’d also like to adjust the idea that this issue occured with 2024 because building lights and airplane lights are on the same system. That’s technically correct, but it was like that in 2020 too. The reason this is happening is because 2024 attempts to use much more real world physics accurate lighting, which correctly means that the same brightness value will look very dim in daylight compared to night. As can be seen in the SDK screenshot Zadma posted, light brighness is set in candela in the 2024 sim, instead of a valueless brightness value in 2020. This is why having the ability to set the brighness differently in daylight is crucial.
Do you think something can be changed on a global level to essentially check that box on all default airports, or at least the autogen ones? Or is this something Asobo would need to do?
As far as I can tell, the option only exists for custom lightrows, not the default runway light system, so for third parties to do anything, it would require creating scenery with placed lights for every airport. I’m sure it would be easier to convince Asobo/MS that this system is wanted on default runway light system for all airports.
