Aerosoft CRj 1.0.5
Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No
Brief description of the issue:
With MSFS 1.17.3.0 and the Aerosoft CRj 1.0.5 package installed–I install based on the download packages available from Aerosoft site, ATC audio responses stop working for all aircraft once you’ve interacted with ATC from the CRj itself
Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:
Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
Exit MSFS if already running
Uninstall all add-ons and clean out the Community folder
Install the Aerosoft CRj 1.0.5 package (available from the Aerosoft site) – not sure if this also reproduces using the Aerosoft CRj available from the marketplace
Start MSFS
Start in any aircraft other than the CRj such as the Cessna 172 Skyhawk (G1000) with the default livery
Start at any airport where I chose KRNT (Renton)
Power up the aircraft (if needed) - I start cold & dark from KRNT Parking 8
Make an ATC request such as “REQUEST TAXI - DEPART STRAIGHT OUT”
ATC will respond and the voice (audio) will be heard
Press ESC and END back to the Activity menu
Change to the CRj 700 using the default livery
Go back to the same airport such as KRNT (Renton)
Power up the aircraft (if needed) - I start cold & dark from KRNT Parking 8
Make the same ATC request
RESULT: The pilot (captain/FO) voice will be heard, but there will be no voice (audio) for the ATC response; though you will see a text response in the ATC window. From here on no ATC responses to you or any other aircraft will be heard
Press ESC and END back to the Activity menu
Change to any other aircraft such as going back to the Cessna 172 Skyhawk (G1000)
Start at any airport where I chose KRNT (Renton)
Power up the aircraft (if needed) - I start cold & dark from KRNT Parking 8
Make the same ATC request
RESULT: The pilot (captain/FO) voice will be heard, but there will be no audio for the ATC response; though you will see a text response in the ATC window. From this point forward all ATC responses will not be heard for any aircraft
WORKAROUND: The only way I’ve found to restore ATC responses (audio) is to exit MSFS and uninstall the CRj 1.0.5 package. I should note that I tried with an earlier CRj 1.0.3 package and this issue does not reproduce with that earlier version installed.

I just logged into the Aerosoft forum to report this and see that the issue has already been reported there:
NO ATC sounds after upgrading to v1.0.0.5 - General Discussion - AEROSOFT COMMUNITY SERVICES
This belongs in #third-party-addon-discussion:aircraft as it’s not a stock aircraft issue. Please use the manufacturer/software developer’s support forums to report this issue.
Hi @CasualClick I reported it here because the impact is on ATC for all aircraft even if it originates from an add-on. If this was limited to just the add-on, that would be more clear cut. And as noted with the link above, it has been reported to the developer’s support forum. This was not an easy issue to track down and I want to make sure others are aware.
I’ve actually fixed this issue. Turns out, nothing is broken.
For ease of troubleshooting, tune to an ATIS frequency. In the lower pedestal area, below the screen where you set your radios, TCAS, and Squak code, there’s section where you can control your radio volumes with a bunch of knobs. In the top row of it, you’ll see “1 - VHF - 2”. Click on the knob below the “1 -” text (i.e. - left knob on the top row), and you should notice that it pops out. You should now hear ATC.
In the latest CRJ update, you now have to make sure that you do what I just mentioned, and turn the ATC selector knob (located to the left of the backup radio and above the STAB TRIM buttons) to “1” before takeoff.

@Enginerd122142 - Okay, great! I’ll give this a try. I take it these steps will ensure ATC is enabled for all other aircraft as well? What happens if I were to jump into the CRj and for whatever reason decide to jump back out without doing these steps (as life sometimes gets in the way
). Will ATC sounds then be disabled for other aircraft? (Until I jump back in the CRj and do these steps). It’s the impact on other aircraft that’s disconcerting. Does the fix you mention address this scenario?
Ah, yes, I’m familiar with that knob as I’ve been having to set that and punch in the squawk code to avoid getting nagged by ATC to set the code, which seemed to be a change introduced in the previous CRj release. I’m guessing this brings things closer to the real experience. Good stuff
Hello,
I don’t have any mod, but sometimes ATC “crash”. I have no answer and I can’t do anything with the atc, all the choices disapears or are grey out…
Seems not to be a bug with your add-on, but with the game itself.
Thanks
I’ve just bought and installed the crj from the in game market. My version is Microsoft store. I can fix the issue for the crj following the steps to pull the vhf knob but it doesn’t fix it for example in the tbm. Might have missed it but is there a fix?
I bought the CRJ from the Market Place, managed to get around the CRJ ATC issue, but also can’t seem to find a Fix on other Aircraft’s ATC since installing
Hi,
By pressing that knob, I get ATC voice again on the CRJ, but I can find that or any similar button in the other aircraft so no atc sound.
any idea how to fix it in the other aircraft,
Thanks
My experience has been once I’m able to get ATC voice in the CRj then as long as you keep the button enabled until you exit the flight then ATC voice is restored on all other aircraft for subsequent flights. The button in effect acts as a global switch affecting all other aircraft once its put in the off position such as on cold & dark startup of the CRj
I have same problem, is there any way to fix ATC sound in other aircraft?
Rotate the COM1 volume knob.
Is that possible on other arcrafts than CRJ?
Yes. What aircraft are you having an issue with?
I just tired the following with success C208, Baron, Bonanza, C152, C172 G1000, C172 Skyhawk, DA40, KingAir 350, VL3.
Couldn’t get it to work on the SR22 → (Edit. It works. Turned the wrong Vol knob.)

To add to the above that works: FlightDesign CT, Pipistrel, CJ4, Icon A5, DV20, DA62.
Could not figure out how to get the Longitude to work.
