Unfortunately, it looks like Santa Claus won’t bring us any surprises. I had hoped that the DHC-7 or the Avro RJ or the A2A Comanche would be ready in time for Christmas. But it doesn’t look like the unexpected launch is coming yet. Too bad.
Must admit, I was hoping for the A380… or the ATR or something new that wasn’t a small single prop GA (no disrespect to anyone who flies GAs, just looking forward to the bigger stuff).
I think we have had a staggeringly good last six weeks or so. Unprecedented even. I’m not disappointed (or in the least surprised) that we aren’t going to get anything else before Christmas.
to me Christmas gift is simply that my sim is working ok now and can have joy for flying. Weather, turbulence, navigation, ice in flight, IFR or VFR, Vatsim, as I need. This is enough to me and now I’m satisfied…
Hoping the //42 FreedomFox complete package goes on sale. The complete package also includes some campgrounds. I know they sell it as a package at ORBX, not sure about the Marketplace, and I don’t have the sim up at the time.
Anyway, that is my Christmas wish.
Edit: Verified and Complete also sold in Marketplace.
I got my gifts before Christmas:
Sim running great in VR.
CJ4 and TBM with upgraded, amazing avionics suites.
Helicopters! (which I had never messed with in any sim, but are a blast to fly!)
The iniBuilds A310
I bought myself the Aerosoft CRJs and they are amazing in VR
Still loving the Fenix and PMDG NGs
Still loving the JF Arrow
Got a new KEWR that is just amazingly detailed
Still on my list:
EFB for the PMDGs (but not that big of a deal - I have other tools in VR that compensate)
E-Jets (coming soon hopefully?)
An ATR would be nice…
Lessons on how to fly aforementioned helicopters
Best gift of all - a great community of simmers here on this forum! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!
just got a bunch of free 40th anniversary content - free planes, free scenery, other upgrades to the sim. Life is good.
Also - the 3rd party developers seem to be keeping pace more or less with the SU’s and I’ve got more planes than I can fly already. It’s nice to get some discounts and giveaways at the end of the year for sure but I think we’re doing pretty well as it is.
How do you manipulate the FMS’es in VR, if you do not mind me asking? I also got a headset but found myself only flying things like the Stearman, as complex avionics are somewhat tedious to manipulate. I tried the islander earlier and while I could use the inner GPS knob with my VR controller the outer did not move as if something was missing.
So I imagine a more complex aircraft would be even more of a hassle.
It’s actually pretty easy to program the FMS in VR… I like to use the laser pointer to just type away on the keypad… after a few times, it gets to be like second nature. I have a quick video showing how I have the Quest controller set up so that it’s easy to work with the knobs (increase/decrease) and also the push/pull knob interactions for the systems that have knobs that turn and also push (or pull, in the case of Airbus).
I never use the mouse anymore in VR. In fact, the mouse is across my office on my desk and far away from the VR setup
If you are interested, here’s the quick video showing how to set up the Quest controller. It should work for other VR controllers, too.
