ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

While flying out on a mission in cruise (following the preset flight plan the career mode mission gave me), I notice that my flight plan ends at a VOR or other waypoint, and no destination airport is in the flight plan. I think “I’ll just load it myself using what it says in the EFB” but the EFB also does not have the destination, and oddly enough I couldn’t even click the button in the EFB to add my own.

The major issue with this is that there is no way to figure out where the destination airport of the mission is supposed to be because it is not listed anywhere in the UI after you start a mission, unless you were given some clues. The first time it happened I only had a town destination name in the mission title on the pause screen (i.e. “service to Grand Rapids”). The second time it happened the town listed had multiple airports, and I had to go back to read ATCs IFR clearance to see the actual code of the airport where I needed to fly to (shame on me for not checking my flightplan before takeoff I guess). I feel like this is a big issue because if it is not noticed before takeoff, you could be in over an hour long flight and then suddenly discover that the EFB and avionics don’t list where you are going, and then be unable to complete the mission because you can’t find the appropriate location.

I know verifying the destination in the avionics is very basic flight planning, but career mode gives you the expectation that this will be listed in the EFB, and when it’s not it is very suprising.

The workaround is to write down the destination with pen (or keyboard) from the very first mission breifing screen, where the destination is clearly listed.

To be clear, I’ve only seen this DURING a mission, not before on the briefing screen (but it may have happened there aswell)

• Yes

This issue you’re describing is indeed common to me in the Career Mode , although it often occurs not in the first mission immediately after booting the game, but more typically in the second or third one.

I also write down the destination airport from the initial mission briefing screen for that reason. But the EFB is lock and I cannot enter it as destination, so I add the airport at the last waypoint.

The expectation set by Career Mode is that all necessary details are provided in the EFB, which makes its absence surprising and disruptive to gameplay.

• I was doing a medium, cargo mission in the Pilatus PC-12. In the hangar I checked the EFB and all was OK, then clicked on File to ATC (or whaterver) then Send to Avionics (even though I know it won’t appear in the PC012 FMS)
Then I started the mission and loaded the Flight Plan from the EFB into the PC-12.
I think at this point the destination airport had disappeared from the flight plan. I knew the destination airport as I’d checked it in Navigraph (see attached although I doubt this is relevant) so I headed there anyway. It also still appeared in the mission window on screen. But is was gone from the EFB so wan’t loaded into the PC-12 flight plan either - I had to manually add it as a waypoint (I couldn’t add it as the destination airport.
I contacted ATC close to the airport and was given a runway (R30). When I got the option to confirm the landing the game CTD.
This has happened before, in fact I even warned someone on the forum not to proceed with a mission when this happens but I wasn’t wise enough to listen to my own advice.
Let’s see it as confirmation that when the destination airport disappears form the EFB that you should just restart the mission or abort.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

I just started the same mission again and tried to recreate it following the same steps (or as many as I could remember) and this time it worked fine.

I’m often getting a blank EFB in career mode. The only thing I’ve found that fixes it is restarting the sim. Sometimes more than once.

I just started another cargo mission and whilst in the hanger I ‘Filed Plan with ATC’ and ‘Sent Route to Avionics.’ Once in the aircraft the destination had disappeared again,
I think it might be something to do with clicking on these buttons in the EFB before starting the mission, Not 100% though.

And again. This time I didn’t click anything on the EFB until I was in the aircraft but it has still lost the destination airport. I didn’t skip anything and was about to taxi, Checked the EFB and there’s no destination again.
Very frustrating.

I see this quite frequently, to the point that I check the EFB before even turning on electrics. It happens in various aircraft, so I am fairly certain it is not specific to one model.

It happens randomly, although I am curious whether it relates to specific airports. I just had this issue happen on my current mission (which I am now aborting) and of course, I can’t say what the destination is because it is no longer in the EFB.

Very frustrating. I’m experiencing this too.

Before even accepting the mission write down (with a pen - lol) the Waypoints that show up during the rotating globe. Then put them in the EFB one by one along with your optimised cruise level. Press “send to ATC”.

I have been taking a photo on my phone of the pre flight summary screen and manually entering the waypoints, but sometimes the destination airport is completely missing in the EFB. Restarting Flight Sim fixes it. Right now I’m checking the EFB before startup of the aircraft, and if it’s missing I’ll just restart the sim.

I did fly one when the airport was missing in the EFB, and got the heading from the last waypoint to the airport with an online map. When I was on approach and it came up with the “press enter to announce” or whatever it is, I pressed enter, and it crashed to desktop

Same Here, in Career mode flying a 737 VIP, I had Navigraph installed as add-on for EFB and removed it thinking it may cause interference with EFB and cause this issue, With a complete empty community folder, this issue still persist. It is now easier to conclude that it’s not a add-on issue on the community folder but strictly a MSFS2024 Quality Control Issue. Gee…another one of those !!!

Same here… happens more so on the multi-million dollar VIP missions but happens a LOT. Why?

I had this happening a month ago. .pln files made in the efb, ms planner or simbrief doesn’t make a difference. When importing a file, it always leaves the destination blank. Trying to plan in the efb itself results in the same outcome. The plane in all cases was a boeing 787-10. No add-ons or third party content. I am going to test with another plane and will let you know if this makes a difference.

EDIT: Apparently the problem was airplane-specific. I tried the airbus A321 and there was no problem. Also when the problem occured it was during free-flight

Same issue. This does not alway occur, only about in one third of my missions, usually the Cargo ones. I suspect this has to do with the airports involved because everytime this happens, the destination airport is usually a tiny airfield.
