No latest RIG for MSFS VR

Dear Team,
Greerings!
I was planning to buy new RIG which was I9 13900k, RTX 4080.
However , looking at the topics and threads it seems it is impossible to run MSFS VR at high settings .
Am I correct Or I red something wrong? Since Youtubers there showing such a high FPS with VR ,it’s hard to believe.
Please guide me so that I can take decision that it’s that MSFS VR poor optimization that leads to stutters ,fps drops & since my personal experience in 2D since release, It seems DEV teams are least prioritizing Performance.

Investing so much money just for a single MSFS sim where we are not even sure that in future we will get performance or support related to it.

Thanks!

I’ve got a 12700 & 3070TI and a HP Reverb. With my settings I get in the 30-35 fps range. Stutters / fps drops / etc are pretty rare

13700+4080+Reverb G2 and I get ~35fps over NYC and 50-60fps over less demanding areas. Generally a very smooth experience with settings being a mix of Ultra & High, TLOD 150, DLSS Quality, no MR.

Guys,
Are you using mostly HIGH settings or?

Yes I do. All HIGH, except for TLOD, this is higher @ 300.
Render resolution is 3800x3800x2

Hey SimReal,

I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, 64 GB and AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D 12-Core Processor 4.40 GHz and although the sim works beautifully with TrackIR, it refuses to load in VR with the Pico 4. It is on the ultra settings previously and I will set to “high” and try all over once more this weekend.

Il-2 works a treat and I am not giving up!

I have the HP G2 with a 3080Ti and i7 11700. I get 40ish FPS with a mix of Ultra and High settings. The sim is looking pretty fine these days. Some settings just aren’t required in high res VR. Texture Supersampling is not required. I turn off Ambiant Occlusion, terrain shadows, contact shadows, and I turn the shadow maps to the lowest setting. My terrain LOD is at 95 which takes a huge load off the sim. I crank up the clouds, water, trees, buildings, grass, raymarch reflections, texture resolution, texture synthesis, and anisotropic filtering.

What are you upgrading from?

i am upgrading from 9700k, 2080Ti.
However T.LOD less then 180 looks blurry in VR

Please post after trials , waiting !

TLOD has nothing to do with sharpness. It determines how far away from you the terrain objects are loaded.

Ryzen 7 5800x3D, 4080, DDR4@3600MHz.

Reverb G2, almost everything Ultra, definitely use the openXR toolkit companion.

45 FPS, Smooth as silk , even on the ground. The x3D and this graphic card is an insane combination.

13600K, 4070ti. Upgraded for MSFS.

If you want VR, then you want VR and are prepared for less than optimal performance.

The weak link is the low resolution of the headsets, and the ‘screen effect’ where you can see the pixels.

As for always striving for best settings, in VR you are not going to notice the difference above a certain level. On a 4K monitor you will, on a VR headset you won’t.

It is a brand new world with VR, if you haven’t experienced it. Even with a lower rated system, it is still an experience, instead of watching an experience.

You are setting a course for disappointment with VR, as at some time it will be your turn for all the moving parts to have an issue somewhere. But when it works, it is a new game completely.

I fly helicopters, which are close to the ground placing the highest pressure on MSFS, and it makes my eyes bleed if I turn, yaw around, quickly, but normally it is great at around 42 fps.

I went crazy with scenery addons, and they cause the occasional stutter, but worth it.

The topic author seems to have made up their mind already that it is the best or nothing.

So I suppose it is nothing then.

That’s what I mean’t the ground blurriness

Oh that’s insane however Ryzen 9 7950X , the reviews are slightly -ve side? what say

If you have the money, then go for it. You will future proof your rig for many years. Picking the right VR headset is the hard part. I wouldn’t know which one to pick these days.

I use HP reverb G2

Then I would say you will definately enjoy the new rig. RomanDesign got a new screamer PC, and even he finds something not quite right in the sim. The trick is to tune your settings, and then forget about them. I always set the time of day to sunrise or sunset. The low light conditions hide most of the warts; if you can’t see them, they don’t exist. :innocent:

Did I just read about Screen Door Effect in 2023?
I haven’t seen SDE since CV1 and it hasn’t been an issue for years with the later HMDs.
This is from someone who owns every HMD except the Pimax 8K,Varjo, and Index.
Then again I don’t have any vision problems either.
