US east coast
Everything seemed to be working for the past hour or two but i literally watched all the clouds and snow coverage slowly evaporate into nothing again…
Same here. Last night was fine and today it seems to be inconsistent again.
No longer a black box. Here’s the official statement I sought:
MODERATOR EDIT:
Photo removed. Please keep all photos and posts related to MSFS.
Physically located in the US east coast, connected to the US East server.
I loaded the aircraft at KAUS, which has overcast and rain, but there were no clouds. The METAR report in the Live Weather menu had the correct date and time (and showed that there should have been overcast and rain).
Turned online functionality “off” in the data menu, saved and exited MSFS, restarted MSFS, turned online functionality “on”, saved, exited and restarted but still no clouds.
I shut down MSFS and re-booted my cable modem and router. Finally, when again loaded at KAUS, I finally got the rain and low overcast. It is now “working”, but it seems fragile and inconsistent.
Thanks. That was my suspicion. I suspect your geographic location is more likely to be a factor, which would also affect the servers you connect to.
Flying now from EGKK to LIMF. I have clouds, winds and QNH, but wheather is stuck in the one we had at 06:00 AM. Weather does not correspond with actual METAR. I’m in Spain using North Europe server
Hello folks,
Thank you for your continued reports. We are watching this thread very closely, and it’s clear that while the issue has been partially or fully resolved for some players, others are still experiencing problems with Live Weather. Asobo continues to investigate the remaining Live Weather issues.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
After yesterday’s fix, the weather worked fine for me, until today around 12-13Z
Thanks for info!
Poland, everything seems ok when it comes to live weather.
I believe that is correct. The “server” dialog only controls which MP server you connect to. I think that MSFS has its own internal networking map and you have no control over the servers that supply streaming scenery and Live Weather. That is probably based on your physical geographic location and where your ISP backbone connects to the rest of the Internet.
It also seems evident that when Live Weather is enabled, various components of the Live Weather system come from different servers. Over the weekend, when many users were getting no clouds, the METAR component was still working to inject surface wind, temperature and pressure. Even though the in-game METAR text was often outdated by many days, the actual injected surface weather seemed to always match the actual real-time METAR reports.
Also, winds aloft (which are from the MeteoBlue model, not METAR), appeared to be correct and corresponded to the GFS model predictions.
So it seems that the clouds and precipitation component of Live Weather comes from a separate server than the surface METAR and winds aloft.
They just updated the status:
“The studio is currently investigating the remaining Live Weather issues with Azure.”
To my knowledge this is the first time they’ve acknowledged this is an Azure issue, but pretty much what we were all thinking…
It’s back to square one for me now. No visible weather anywhere. What happened? It seemed fine an hour ago.
I have zero issues, really I’m sorry. My weather and approach at EKVG just now was all correct, matching the METAR stats. Including the right headwind knots.
Hi did you try turning off all data in options genral data in the sim then save, then re enable all data and save it again, also when you load into a flight go to the Wx option and choose clear skies, then switch back to live wx
