Since MFS2020 was installed a month ago (end of Sept 2020) I have got no updates at all! I am still using the initial version 1.8.3.0. – Should I wait for the 1.9. 3.0 or should I take some action?

Store purchase? If so check for updates there. It may download a new launcher.
Do you use the Sim offline?
First, check to ensure any Firewall or Antivirus software is not blocking the connection to/from MSFS. Go to the MS Store, and click on the … location upper right corner, and go to Downloads and Updates, then choose “get updates”. Any and all updates necessary for the sim to work will download first, restart PC once updates are complete. Also check windows update, and update all software from there as well. Restart PC again after this.
Open MSFS, it should “check for updates”, and then ask you if you want to install them, You will have 80+GB to download, be patient. It helps to have fast connection, and it restarted several times if I did not do the download at home with dedicated connection, any public system, well it did not work for me. Let us know it this works for you.
well giving the fact you connect to servers when you launch the sim there is only one way really why you would still be on an old version ![]()
No update maybe the best update as there are so many people hope their MSFS were never updated ![]()
The first portion of your post has been edited for clarification. However, firewalls and antivirus should be one of the last things to disable when debugging a program - I personally don’t use Windows Defender (I use Sophos) and have had no issues.

Can you show us what you have under “Installed”. One of the views shows this, as well as the version number installed. Although the shot above does seem to show you have it installed.
I never had a problem with getting the MS Store to download reqiured updates, although it never prompted to do so, and I had to manually choose to update all installed apps.
Here a snapshot: Everything is “up to date” except the first on top which has " Relaunch the game to update" PS: antivirus and all “defence” programs are shut down. ---- Relaunching though nothing happens. “Checking for updates” returns nothing.
You have the 787 listed, so that confirms you have the Premium Deluxe edition installed. I guess that’s what the store offers you to buy it as a gift for someone.

Yes, for example. I am on my work machine, but logged in to MS Store as myself. It shows the following, even on a machine without them installed.
If you go to “Downloads and Updates”, this screen will show you the version numbers, for example:

So can you show us a screenshot of that page, including the version numbers? In fact, both of those pages would be useful. One shows us what you have, the other shows what you are offered, including recent updates. A recent update would indicate whether your MS Store is working properly. You can see I got an update to “Power BI” yesterday, and “Your Phone” on 16/10/2020.
Now you are just being coy…
We wanted to see the screen that shows a little more information than that, such as the installed version, and when another MS Store provided app was updated.
