No word on the "tiling" Nordics terrain?

Has there been any word on the “tiling” that occurs in Scandinavian countries as a result of the Nordics update?

It can not possibly be that this is how it is going to be in the future. I uninstalled the Nordics and it still does it. It is like flying on a giant chess board.

I’ve not seen it in the Nordics areas yet but then again I haven’t explored them much so far.

I have seen that effect in the Isle of Man where the scenery gets filled in in large squares around you as you fly .
That’s been happening for at least the last 6 months, so well before the Nordics update.

You may be describing what I saw in Greenland early this year, long before the Nordics update – the data at high latitudes just isn’t very good, and tends to vary widely at resolution level boundaries. This becomes extremely visible flying at high altitude over high latitudes.

If so, you might be seeing addiitonal differences between the higher-resolution meshes and lower-resolution meshes in the Nordic countries with the world update pack installed.

What they should do is have all the low-resolution output data generated by filtering the high-resolution source data when available, and merging/stitching it as necessary with lower-resolution source data. There should be very few differences between high and low resolution data, both for meshes and for ground textures. But they way they have implemented it is the opposite: low-resolution output data is often from low-resolution source data, thus you have inconsistencies.

Tiling is color jumping across terrain LOD rectangles. The ground texture seems to have a different color, dependent on your distance to it. They do improve the ground texture with world updates, and replace it by higher resolution textures. But sometimes, that does not happen for all LOD-levels. On a distance, the old texture will shine through, you get a color jump. It happened to Isle of Man after the UK update and to Skandinavia now. I think that is caused by replacing old ground textures with fresh data… I don’t know if that happens manually for large areas at a time, or automatically… but I’m sure it has to do with the mip-levels of the textures, having a different color. Repair must be done server side… if you see it often, or it looks like a discoteque, make sure you put a complaint to Zendesk, with the location… and remove your rolling cache, else chance is, you won’t see any server side corrections.

it’s a bug, they know, it’s fixed in the july 27th update. PC and Xbox They talk about it in the last dev talk video.

I shall wait and see on the 27th then…thanks for the information.

Care to drop me an area, so that I can test it?

Do you happen to have a picture? I have no idea what you’re talking about.

“And make sure you include a picture… many pictures.”

When I have a specific location complaint, I post location (near airport ICAO) and when it’s in the middle of nowhere, its coordinates. Switch on Developer mode, then menu Tools Show coordinates, you can make a screenshot with the coordinates in the left bottom corner.

Ooh, I didn’t know that one.

Sorry ■■■■ quality for size purpose but still shows…

OK.

Start a flight at ESSA runway 19R, best done with helicopter of you have downloaded that.

If you have a heli, start at 19 R, take off, and fly next to the runway on the grass section to your right and follow the runway at 300-500 feet. The effect also happens on the runway but it is much clerarer on grass.

You can also take off with the cessna and fly to the right of the runway and follow it.

You will see that the vegetation populates like tiles on a chess board. It does that everywhere in Scandinavia for me.
