The only problem I have been having with MSFS in the past year is, when I shut it down and the next time I start it up Norton 360 warns me that it is suspicious. Now I know how to block programs from Norton’s scans but with MSFS I am not sure what exactly should I block. There is some MSFS stuff on Drive C: which is also my OS disk. This is a 500GB ssd. I also have a 1T ssd that has the communuity folder and other MSFS installed folders and files.
So, what do I need to block from Norton 360? Thanks in advance for any help I receive.

Short answer, Norton is suspicious. Remove it and your Problems are gone. There is no need for Norton.
For me, having MSFS Store the path of the exe file is located here:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.34.16.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
Thanks for that location info. That’s exactly where my FlightSim exe is. I blocked that file, I’ll see how that goes next time I restart the sim.
2023 and people still use that norton garbage??
Of course the best way of never getting virus warning of any type is to not have an anti virus program.
But I am not sure why the strong anti Norton sentiment as, out of 5 replies, two slag Norton. This while it is still consistently one of the highest ranking AV programs in reputable independent reviews. And the paid antivirus with of the highest market shares.
FWIW: I have been using Norton for two years now and I have found it to be unintrusive and effective if kept up to date. It was included in my ISP’s internet package so I have it at no visible extra charge. Before using this I used the free versions of AVG and Avast, both of which also worked well for me.
I agree with SlabsFly
Actually, the best antivirus software is built-in and it’s called Windows Security. Windows has reliable, tested and safe built-in security protections which protect your device from harmful threats.
Antivirus software can only stop known threat signatures. Not unknown. No 3rd party antivirus will give 100% protection. That’s a complete marketing gimmick in design. Make users believe they are fully protected. Them users download and install lots of unknown pieces of software without proper due diligence (false security because of antivirus 100% protection claims) in the end, the system is usually compromised from within.
Actually, 3rd party antivirus software can be the worst threat to the user computer, 3rd party antivirus software requires full administrator access for complete file and folder access all the time, no software is 100% secure, once the 3rd party antivirus software is compromised, the whole system is usually compromised.
This is the reason, I don’t use any 3rd party antivirus software. Leave the built-in security protections enabled and do proper due diligence on software and you will be safe.
That Too. But I already have Norton installed and have over 200 days left on the subscription so when that’s up I will put some more thought into it.
