Agreed. Only place it doesn’t work as expected is when in FLC mode and then switch over to Mach hold from IAS while using auto-throttle - the FLC doesn’t adjust Mach number as altitude increases and ends up with reduced climb rate or overspeed or both.
Well it’s not working correctly because if it were, then the when you pushed the button, the IAS readout on the top left of the PFD would change to mach readout. At the moment it only shows the mach readout on the annunciator tab on the top center.
Its bugged. During climb i have to constantly rotate the SPD Knob up and down in order do get the actual MACH number displayed. Looks like the AP is still holding IAS even with MACH activated.
In the FBW 320 it works perfectly.
Edit:
The Vmo ribbon is constantly changing. sometimes its down to 220kt IAS, sometimes at 240kts (both flying at the same flight level). Seems not right to me either.
I don’t think the panel displays of the Longitude are covered under the mod. Those parts of the plane are still encrypted so you’ll have to complain to Asobo about fixing that.
I tried this too without any luck (a great idea though). I noticed that the warning is triggered whenever the throttle levers move back to 0% manually or when descending under autothrottle control. My idea is to reduce the chances of this happening, so I made a further change:
I reduced the low_idle_n1 to 12 and the low_idle_n2 to 30 so that the throttle levers don’t need to move as far back to reach flight idle rpm.
The warning is still triggered briefly from time to time on autothrottle descent but switches off again almost immediately.
The warning will also trigger if you lower the flaps above their speed limit, and this is confusing because the model flaps animation shows 3 extension positions whereas the PFD display shows 4 extension positions - there are in fact only 3 extension positions and their limits are:
Flaps 1: less than 230KIAS
Flaps 2: less than 180KIAS
Flaps 3: less than 170KIAS (with gear down of course)
This is regardless of any figures entered into the [GEAR_WARNING_SYSTEM] section of the systems.cfg, these limits must be coded into the flaps lever and throttle levers themselves.
I don’t understand 4 extension positions on the PFD. Where is the flaps info indicated on the PFD? I’ve not noticed it before.
Also, another issue is that Asobo assumes that like other bizjets, flaps 2 requires you to extend the gear, but that’s not the case. You’re only supposed to extend the gear with flaps 3, and Flaps 2 is the actual takeoff flaps. So, you takeoff with flaps 2 and the fool is already singing “Landing gear! Landing gear!!”. Secondly, during descent, you select flaps 2, “Landing gear! Landing gear!!” So annoying!
Sorry I always get the PFD & MFD mixed up - I mean the right-hand screen, the flaps indicator is below the engine readouts and above the gear indicator.
I’ve now edited the flaps section in the flight_model.cfg and changed it to 4 position flaps:
max_on_ground_position = 4 ; Dynamically set in-tool to last flap-position index by default when -1 is found.
flaps-position.0 = 0, -1, 0
flaps-position.1 = 7, 230, 0.25
flaps-position.2 = 15, 180, 0.50
flaps-position.3 = 25, 170, 0.75
flaps-position.4 = 35, 160, 1.00
I’m guessing that the third set of figures for each position are percent extended.
The Cessna Citation Longitude has only 3 flap positions (well 4 if you count the fully retracted position, 0):
- Flaps 0 = 0 degrees
- Flaps 1 = 7 degrees
- Flaps 2 = 15 degrees
- Flaps 3 = 35 degrees
They’ve been tweaked in the mod for sim reasons therefore Flaps 1 has been set to 10 degrees. Even on the MFD, there are only 3 (extended) positions, not 4.
Here’s a pic of the Real Life MFD of the Longitude (thanks to Ahmad310x):
Compare with MSFS 2020 (sorry that’s the only screenshot I have handy):
I just realised that I’m using the Working Title garmin mods and maybe that’s why my screen is showing 4 flap positions. I’ll try again without the WT mods installed.
Edit:
OK I tried it and there are 3 flap positions on screen without the WT mods installed. However the gear warning will sound whenever flaps position 2 is engaged, or the throttle levers move to 0%, regardless of airspeed.
Bug report submitted to Zendesk.
That screenshot i took is also working title. Just curious, could you share a screenshot?
Oh really? I haven’t noticed. That’s wrong. I’ll check when I get in the game. I’ve been using the working title for a while now. You can see that my screenshot is with the working title.
On a brighter note, for anyone who’d like to see the exhaust shimmer on the Longitude, copy and paste the below over the [EFFECTS] section in the aircraft.cfg file:
[EFFECTS]
wake = fx_wake
water = fx_spray ; (feet) distance from FlightSim Reference position, which is: (1/4 chord, centerline, waterline)
dirt = fx_tchdrt
concrete = fx_sparks
touchdown = fx_tchdwn_s, 1
effect.0 = FX_EXHAUST_LEFT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_M_REACTORHEAT_TBM930
effect.1 = FX_EXHAUST_RIGHT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:2, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_M_REACTORHEAT_TBM930_R
effect.2 = FX_EXHAUST_LEFT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_TBM930_EXHAUST
effect.3 = FX_EXHAUST_RIGHT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:2, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_TBM930_EXHAUST
Have you been in contact with Dakfly about adding your changes to the official mod? I think this thread should only be about Dakfly’s mod and if you want to post your own mods there is a Cessna Longitude thread that might be more appropriate, or you could create your own thread. No offense, I just don’t think it’s a good idea for a lot of extra things start creeping into this thread.
Good point. I was originally replying to both dakfly and dibarkis about the gear warning issue, but since I haven’t found a fix this is simply a discussion about the attempts I’ve tried already. In my opinion the gear warning is bugged, it’s nothing to do with dakfly’s or working title’s mods, and I’ve reported it to Zendesk now.
I determined early in my modification efforts that this was bugged. The functionality is almost certainly embedded in the XML configuration files for Longitude, which are encrypted and as such inaccessible. It’s in the open items list in my readme notes for the mod. There are a number of other significant problems identified there as well. And I know there are quite a number of other smaller issues and bugs with Longitude avionics and annunciation that are also not within the scope of my modification efforts for the same reason.
There are substantial issues with the Longitude that can’t be addressed without access to those files. There are also a number of fundamental issues in the Asobo turbine aircraft modeling parameters that affect all jet turbine a/c and have been noted by other modders working on other turbine a/c. The best we can do is work around these (which I have done a lot of) or just live with them.
Definitely appreciate your efforts to see if any further progress could be made on this issue and I’ve noted some of your other efforts as well. Keep up the good work. Perhaps you’ll find some solutions to problems that I haven’t.
I’ll be publishing a V1.5 mod sometime today, and I’ll have updates to the open items list with a few other significant ones identified.
Thank you dakfly, I’m looking forward to the V1.5 update. I did manage to extract the Longitude sound files, but was unable to repack them even with the Wwise tools, d’oh! There are 601 sound files and the gear warning is Asobo_Longitude.PC_279 (.ogg or .mp3, whichever format you’ve chosen), just in case someone else can edit it to be silent and repack the file again.
No no no. You cannot modify the file to be silent and add it to the mod. That warning needs to be there. It’s annoying that it is triggered inappropriately, but making the sound file silent is not an option for general distribution. If you want to modify your own aircraft this way, you are welcome to do so. But do not impose your overcorrection on me or anyone else. How would you like it if I changed the Longitude to fit my own preferences and forced those changes into the mod. Not cool!
That sounds promising. What was the difficulty with re-packing the files?
I just couldn’t work out how to get the sound files into a new pack list - there are at least 2 windows into which I assume you can drag and drop files, but my cursor changed to a No Entry icon when I tried it. I couldn’t find any button or drop-down menu option to Add Files as you’d expect - and there’s a limit of 200 files without purchasing a licence.
