Not AAU1: Cessna Citation Longitude Flight Dynamics Modification Project

Well, all the elements of the aircraft are fixed in the Aircrafts coordinate system. So the lights don’t “move in space“. Rather, all the elements of the aircraft are defined in a coordinate system and the entire system “moves”.

I think it would be extremely complicated to come up with some kind of software that would constantly measure the orientation of the nose wheel and adjust the lights, assuming that’s even possible in the flight simulator code.

Rather, the way this is usually done, is when the model is created, for example in Blender, all the animations are defined including the nose wheel movement and the taxi light can be attached to the light fixture and then automatically move.

This is a much simpler where to do it and unfortunately impossible for us since we cannot modify the model of the Longitude.

What is IRL?

InRealLife

I actually think you can move those lights using the coordinate system in the system.cfg.
I did that with some other interior lights in the TBM aswell and it worked out pretty well.

You can’t move them DYNAMICALLY using the system.cfg

Do you understand the kind of movement we are talking about? Turning the nose wheel?

Did you read the conversation or just the last post?

No but you can move the lights. Nobody said you can move them dynamically.
Calm down dude.

We know we can move the lights. That is not what we were talking about.

I was replying to DiBarkis not your post.

I encountered a strange problem with this Mod (V1.51) on my system. My Sim was constantly freezing for a short moment every 2 Seconds also in Main Menu. After I uninstalled it every thing is fine again. Double checked and reinstalled and the problem was back again.

That is an interesting issue. The mod doesn’t introduce new software or features to the sim, it simply tells the sim to use alternative files, which are for all intents and purposes identical in structure and content, other than changes in variables describing a/c performance. I would suggest, maybe, uninstalling and reinstalling the default Longitude using the sim content manager. Remove the my longitude performance mod and any other Longitude mods (liveries, for example). Then install the mod package again, and see if the problem persists. Do make sure that you’re only installing one version of the mod or the other (standard or OnAir) and not both - some individuals have tried this and had problems. If you continue to see the problem, let me know.

We were talking about the fact that the actual light fixtures on the nose gear assembly swivels or rotates left and right with the nose landing gear, but the light beam does not rotate with it. It keeps pointing straightforward relative to the aircraft, ignoring where the actual lights are facing.

Tanks for the reply. Yesterday on a 4h flight everything was fine with the mod installed I really enjoyed it (no swaying left or right anymore) But as I retried later that Day the Problem appeared. I’m sure i had only standard version installed. I will try and do a clean reinstall with content manager as suggested.

So this is an intermittent problem? Perhaps something else was going on with your system or in the sim to cause this issue. Have you tried again today to see if the problem is repeated? Checked what other software or mods you might have running that might have caused your issues?

and @ DiBarkis
If I can jump in here… I did the lights for Dakfly’s great mod.
The lights not being individual is Asobo’s doing, but I’m going to take a look, just to satisfy my own curiosity. and “steerable” nose lights…should be possible, (at least it was in FSX and beyond), but the question is “how”. It’s obviously not done correctly in the default Longitude.

Either way… I will take a look

If you don’t quote something specific from the post you’re replying to, then your post applies to everything and everyone above your post.

So, who were you telling to calm down, and what DiBarkis comment or question were you replying to?

No. Just no.
Not going to hijack this thread about Darkflys great work to start an argument here.
I’ll leave them discussing their things and i’m sure they’ll find what they are looking for.
We can end this discussion now.
Thanks.

Hi Uwajimaya,

I’ve actually been trying to get in touch with you, as I had some specific questions concerning the lights on this bird. I just didn’t know how or where. Expect a PM from me if that’s ok by you.

I’ll wait for your reply.

Of course, please PM me anytime.

The problem was permanently. Looks like I have found the cause for these freezes and that is really strange I think. I’ve made a copy of the complete default asobo aircraft-longitude folder before I installed this Mod and kept it right where it was created (MSFSPackages/official/onestore) I found out if I delete this copy folder and simply make a Backup of the layout.json file everything seems to work for now. I’m no expert with these things but that seems weird to me😅 does it make any sense?

The sim is likely reading every folder in the official/onestore directory and therefore attempting to read the duplicate directory you created and copying it into memory for use in the sim - it likely won’t differentiate between a backup of an a/c or object folder and its original. It appears that it’s attempting to read the Longitude files twice and perhaps even loading those files twice when you attempt to use the a/c. I’m frankly surprised it worked at all. Glad you found your solution. Backing up the layout.json file is probably all anyone would need to do since it’s the only file being modified. I suggest backing up the whole directory in case someone makes a boo boo with other files or somehow corrupts their a/c folder beyond the requisite replacement of the layout.json file.
