Seems it’s very quiet over here. We’re all beta-ed out from 2024? haha. Is it worth it to join? I thought I read something about new Bing maps, is this happening or am I mistaken?
Dead link but, I’ve read the release notes. tks
2020 just work so well for me. no temptation to break something!!!
You’re welcome. Sorry about the dead link, it should have been this one: [READ FIRST] Welcome to the Sim Update 16 Beta | MSFS 2020
The latest version of the beta feels a bit stuttery compared to SU15 so I came off it to enjoy some PMDG 737 flying. Really fell out of love with flying for a short time with so many beta updates and none of them fixing anything. So for the sake of my sanity I’m taking some time away from them
I feel the same way after slogging through SU1 & SU2 beta in 24. While was not my plan (life gets in the way), I’m now hiding out in 2020 and 24 SU2 enjoying flying what works for a while!
Yeah, me too. I just a quick spin down to Miami and one from Phoenix and I notice no big scenery changes. I did notice some anomalies such as seeing what looked like pyramid in the distance near Miami that quickly went away. The southwest US still looks awesome in 2020. I prefer it to 24.
And I did get one 5 second pause which I never get in SU15. But I see no reason to stay. I’m reverting back.
OMG Salt Lake city airport will be just as messed up in 2020 as it is in 2024. Please no please! Leave 2020 alone!!
What it looks like in SU15
Prepare yourself for more regression. They just can’t leave good enough alone.
Yep. I filed a bug on it and a mod quickly closed it.
Yeah. I normally used to join the betas. But I’m really enjoying 2020 right now, and my experience of the betas so far is that they normally break something. So I’m making the most of the sim as it is before it gets broken again.
Hello @DanDaredum,
Your bug report was closed because it was a duplicate of an existing bug previously reported by another user. There is not a conspiracy to deliberately make MSFS (2020) worse to drive people to MSFS 2024. The devs are supporting both versions so players can have the choice to use whichever one they prefer.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Honestly? I cannot get the game to even install. It has been 4 days now trying to download it. (GamePass) It just keeps pausing at the end and never completing. I have been through all of the guides. Tried to install on several different drives. Uninstalled twice now. And the downloads are soooo slow. I have 1 gig async fiber here. It’s a firehose. It should install in less than 10 mins. Last install too 2 days to complete the 130 gig install. I literally paid for a game I cannot even install. Why should I bother with the beta and helping them out?
The bug has since been reopened and feedback logged.
I’ve had some incredibly slow downloads in the recent past as well, despite having a fiber connection that averages 150+Mbps. Most likely it’s Microsoft’s servers being slow, some part of the Internet route between you and Microsoft’s servers being slow, or some combination thereof. I don’t see any other logical explanation.
When it happens to me, I usually attribute it to Microsoft’s servers being overloaded, but it doesn’t happen every single time I need to grab something from said servers. Therefore, in your case, my logical conclusion would be that some DNS/routing server between you and Microsoft may be causing issues. Have you tried changing your DNS settings, perhaps?
If that fails… Microsoft doesn’t have datacenters in enough places to optimally serve everybody, so it could just be that you’re too far away from the nearest datacenter to get decent speeds.
@zBrainlezz, the same for me. As part of the beta, I’ve had to revert back to SU15 several times to check if something I noticed was a regression bug, or something that was a pre-existing condition. So I’ve left and joined the beta multiple times, and the download to revert to SU15 to re-check something, and then to rejoin the beta and reinstall SU16 has always worked fine. Sometimes a reboot was required, but not all the time. Sometimes the download takes 5-10 minutes longer, sometimes it doesn’t. But that’s in Sydney Australia based on my after-work hours on this side of the world, so maybe my usage always happens to coincide with lower-load times for the servers. Also I’m running this on a Windows 11 PC with a Microsoft-store-installed version of FS2020. I wonder if it’s a Gamepass issue.
