Not sure how ppl are seeing 60FPS

I have a i9 9900k // 3080 FTW Ultra // 64GB of mem
and I’m seeing tops 40s ON generic MEDIUM settings… No clue how 1080s are topping this.
I should add that my gpu is at 100% usage and my cpu is around 20%.

Just finished a flight
KLAX - KSFO with 787. (i watch tv on chrome with my 2nd screen)

KLAX → Airport 30-35 fps
around FL300 → 72 FPS
KSFO → Airport, Approach etc, 30-35 FPS. (Game freezed few times entering the SF area, probably it was DLing scenery.

All settings Max (only render scale 100, i use 2K resolution). Before this flight, i tried VFR NY area with LOD customized to 5, still it was close to 30 fps.

System = 5900X, 6900XT, 32gb ram.
Edit: Vsync on and set to 60 (i have gsync 120 fps screen)
Edit2: Still i find my performance little low because when i upgraded from 6700K & 1080GTX to this system i did not format and install fresh windows. Using same OS for 5 years.

I seen 110 fps and steady around Tokyo on 1080p with some high ultra settings. Sucks I really can’t fly until the weekend.
10700k
3080
32ram

My FPS display is very similar to yours (40s) however the bigger concern is what you are seeing. 20% CPU usage, and 100% GPU usage to the point I am now scared to fly as I can’t afford to fry my GPU right now.

Looks like your render scaling setting is to high turn that down for more fps.

Myself im getting 40 fps on average with i9-990k and rtx2070 at 4k 80 render scaling with everything on high lod sliders at 200.

hmm I am at 200 let me try to turn down the render scaling and get back…

This is okay, this means the Sim using all the resources available. It would be the problem only if the GPU usage would be low.

Is 80-83c safe for 1070ti? Thats really my main concern.

anything over 100 is upscaling the resolution from what your us screen res is.

For ex see this post https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/osw0nx/the_new_msfs_performance_patch_is_just_plain/
guy said hes on ultra with a 2080 doing above 45-60

80-83 seems to be way too hot. I am getting around 67-71 with GTX980. Perhaps you need to change your thermal paste.

No not temps frames

Holy crap im doing 80-90fps on med now

gonna try ultra, didnt actually realize what render scaling was doing, or how much it was doing it rather.

That might be true but running at 200 is almost rendering nearer to 8k resolution. render scaling makes the biggest hit to fps you can probably set it to 100 and stick everything to ultra and see similar performance as that guy.

There we go, im on ultra now getting 60! Thanks for the insight!!!

HAve you also moved the 2 lod sliders up to 200 that will make tree’s and other objects load in at greater distances. Anything over 30 fps should give you pretty smooth flight anyway.

Going by those pics it looks better now.

Yup, I settled on high-end with all LODs @ 200, and buldings and terrain on Ultra (Motion Blur Off). Seems to be a great balance. I’m SUPER hyped now. Thanks for the help @DORRAGER

No worries enjoy the sim isn’t much difference between high and ultra anyway.

Yup that’s exactly why I didn’t go ultra. I’ve heard this and when Ive looked in the past, i couldn’t really tell.

Same here with 3080 close to 90 fps all the time, all in ultra at 200 in sliders.

Amazing performance, terrible change of controls
