If we take only the simulator parts of 2024, it’s actually not bad and much improved over 2020. However, literally everything around the simulation is horrendous. Take one look at the bug forums and you’ll see this is going to take years to fix, if they even bother as there are launch bugs still in 2020.
That’s just ONE of the bug forums categories, there are several and they are all flooded with reproducible bugs. These aren’t “wahhhh” posts, they are actual bugs you can reproduce yourself. I’m 40 hours into career mode and I can tell you the bugs get WAY worse. You can tell the QA and development drops off about the 15 to 20 hour mark and it just gets worse from there.
So many features just straight up don’t function at all. The EFB is barely above being placeholder art. Career mode insurance doesn’t even work. It costs money, but never pays out for anything. It’s not implemented. Yes, these are only two issues but if you go to that link there are HUNDREDS of these things, and they all add up.
Asobo should not have taken on something like this, but Microsoft loves telling studios to do massive projects in areas they have no experience in. Redfall anyone?
I’m not trying to be toxic, but I am disheartened because being where I am in the game, it’s going to take years to fix. We’re talking No Man’s Sky levels of time frame to get this to launch status. There isn’t any shot realistically either Microsoft or Asobo invests that much money and time into fixing all of the issues. If we assume they will launch another sim in the same time frame of 2028 I have doubts they even have enough time to get this game to launch status before the next game, that’s how many bugs and unfinished things there are.
Again, the sim is amazing, everything around the sim is really bad. Thoughts?
